Now available for auction is this 1985 Ferrari 308 GTSi Quattrovalvole finished in Rosso Corsa over tan leather. Introducing the 32-valve DOHC engine, the Quattrovalvole version of Ferrari’s 308 offered improved performance from its mid-mounted V8 and is distinguished by its black louvered panels on the nose. This 1985 example is accompanied by a well-documented history showing the car to have been under the care of its second owner in Illinois from 1987 up to 2013 at 24k miles when it was purchased by the current owner. The car has since undergone a major 30k mile service including the replacements of belts, seals, gaskets, ignition components, fluids, and filters. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Michigan while showing just over 30k miles on the odometer accompanied by the original books, keys, and toolkit.
The Pininfarina designed bodywork is finished in Rosso Corsa and the paint has reportedly undergone a ceramic coating treatment. A few small chips are noted on the lowest portions of the rocker panels, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The car is said to have been delivered new with a Euro-style front valence, and it rides on factory 16” Cromodora wheels that come dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires showing date codes from 2014-2015.
The tan leather interior is described to be highly original and with only minor signs of wear and patina. A gated 5-speed manual shifter is located between the two seats and a leather three-spoke MOMO steering wheel sits ahead of analog Veglia instrumentation. Additional equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, and an aftermarket Pioneer Super Tuner AM/FM radio with a CD player. The rear power antenna is noted to be fully operational.
The mid-mounted 2.9L Tipo F105 V8 DOHC engine features four valves per cylinder and Bosch K-Jetrontic fuel injection. As much as 240 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a gated 5-speed manual transaxle. A thoroughly documented history of maintenance dating back to 1987 is provided in the photo gallery showing a major preemptive 30k mile service to have been performed in 2014 at 25k miles including oil and filter changes, new belts, a cam seal kit, new gaskets, spark plugs, and ignition wires. The last documented oil and filter change was carried out in 2019 at 29,412 miles.
This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, toolkit, two sets of keys, a spare tire, car cover, a replacement fusebox, and a clean title. Now is your chance to own a nicely presented example of one of the most iconic Italian sports cars of all time, do not miss out.
