The Chevrolet/GMC G-Series was a range of vans built between 1964 and 1996 and was a popular basis for custom builds throughout the 70s and 80s including the iconic 1983 GMC Vandura from The A-Team television series. This 1985 example is a Chevrolet G20 van which has been modified with a raised roof, custom paintwork, tufted velour seats, shag carpeting, window curtains, woodgrain tables, and more. It was reportedly purchased from the original owner by a European collector in 2017 who commenced an extensive mechanical restoration the following year before embarking on a cross-country journey throughout the United States and Canada. It was acquired by the seller earlier in 2023 and was used to tow his Porsche 930 Slant Nose at the Redwood Car Show in San Francisco. A classic representation of custom van culture, this 1985 Chevrolet van is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California while showing approximately 34k miles on the odometer.
This van wears tan paint with custom brown graphics on the sides, hood, roof, and rear end. Equipment includes a raised roof panel with forward-facing windows, a polished rear ladder, chrome bumpers and mirrors, running boards, a rear hitch receiver, dual tailpipes, a fender-mounted antenna, large rear windows, a sliding passenger-side door, double rear doors, a rear-mounted spare tire, and chrome 15” wheels with Chevy emblem hubcaps. The seller describes the exterior to be in excellent overall condition with some imperfections as depicted in the gallery. A clean CARFAX report is also provided for reference.
Inside, this van features green shag carpeting lining the floors and roof contrasted by tufted brown velour upholstery on the seats, side panels, and ceiling. Accommodations include two rows of captain’s chairs with armrests and a rear bench seat as well as woodgrain tables with cup holders, power windows, adjustable map lights, air conditioning, a stereo, and window curtains.
Power is derived from a 5.0-liter Chevrolet small-block V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. The seller indicates that extensive mechanical service was performed by the previous owner and there are no outstanding maintenance items at this time.
This sale will include some documentation and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This van is amazing and so much fun to drive with many awesome stories and extremely low miles.”

If this Van’s a rockin, don’t bother knocking!
Dad use to pull a Ford conversion van behind his Blue Bird Motorhome, that was a sight. I use to borrow the Van for Giants games in the Meadowlands and dates with the wife. I’ll show this to her and see if she’s interested in another drive down memory lane. Fun times in the 80’s.
Hello everyone and welcome to the auction. I'm here for any questions ect
