The M635CSi represents the pinnacle of luxury and performance for BMW's classic E24 6-Series. Powered by a rebuilt 3.5-liter inline-six M88/3 engine—derived from the legendary BMW M1—paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, this European-market 1985 example is finished in black over a matching leather interior. It features a sport-tuned suspension system, a sunroof, a decklid spoiler, 16” alloy wheels, front bucket seats, power windows, an onboard computer, and more. This M635CSi is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Maryland.
The E24 M635CSi boasts sleek, iconic design elements with long, sculpted body lines, including its distinctive shark-nose front end, a signature of BMW’s 1980s styling. This European-market example has slimmer chrome bumpers (in contrast to the larger, rubberized bumpers on the U.S. version) and is finished in black, complemented by dual-round headlamps and wraparound taillights. It has a sunroof, bright trim, a decklid spoiler, a power-operated antenna, “M” badging, and twin center-exit exhaust outlets. It rides on powder-coated and polished 16” Style 5 alloy wheels wrapped in Achilles ATR sport tires. The seller notes rust bubbles around the rear arches and some cracking near the shaved rear signals. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior features front bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl upholstery, complemented by matching door panels and carpets. It is equipped with a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, power windows and locks, an onboard computer, and a cassette stereo. The seller notes that the odometer gears need replacement, the rear deck speakers are peeling, and there are hairline cracks in the dashboard. While the ABS lights are currently on, all other gauges and electronics are reported to be functioning properly.
Power comes from a rebuilt 3.5-liter M88/3 inline-six engine equipped with Bosch Motronic fuel injection, which delivers a factory-rated 286 HP and 251 lb.-ft of torque to rear wheels through a Getrag 280 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It has a sport-tuned suspension with MacPherson struts up front and semi-trailing arms in the rear, while ventilated disc brakes facilitate stopping power at all four corners. The engine was reportedly rebuilt in 1998, adding a revised Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. The seller notes corrosion on the lift points, intermittent starting issues, and the exhaust (due to a hole), clutch cylinders, shifter bushings, and battery need replacement.
This sale will include a spare tire and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a good cheap entry into M car ownership. This is a driving project. I have owned a lot of e24’ and planned to build this one but my other cars are taking my time and this one keeps moving down the list.

@3PedalKing The areas are very solid. I havent treated them with any kind of rust converter but that would be the easiest way to slow it down.
Beautiful E24! Not clear if the rust has penetrated to the subframe from the underside pics! Any idea on replacing/curing the rusted parts at the bottom?
