The BMW Alpina B7/1 Turbo is a rare and highly sought-after high-performance version of the E28 5-Series, combining the practicality of a four-door sedan with impressive power and handling enhancements created by the renowned German tuning company Alpina. Powered by a turbocharged 3.5-liter inline-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, this 1985 example is one of only 236 units built by Alpina at their facility in Buchloe, Germany. It has undergone a cosmetic restoration and is refinished in factory Diamond Black Metallic over a Pearl Beige leather interior. It features a power-adjustment roof, sport seats, 16” Alpina alloy wheels, a reprogrammed Motronic injection system, a modified cylinder head, lighter pistons, a performance camshaft, a header, a 3” exhaust, and a tuned suspension. It is reported to have won numerous concours and car shows over the past decade and has been meticulously maintained. Showing just under 96k miles on the odometer, this highly collectible Alpina B7 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia.
The B7 Turbo maintains the classic E28 styling with the iconic BMW kidney grille, enhanced by unique Alpina features like a distinct front spoiler, Alpina graphics, and badging. This example was refinished in factory Diamond Black Metallic in 2009 as part of a cosmetic restoration that involved professionally reapplying new OEM-style Alpina graphics. It has adjustable headlights with a washer system, a power-adjustable sunroof, and body-colored side mirrors. It rides on silver-finished 16” Alpina light alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and the seller has confirmed that the wheels are free of rash, peeling, or discoloration. Certain trims, including the TUV-mandated rubber safety rear wing, have also been replaced. Detailed images are included in the gallery along with a CARFAX report indicating minor damage in October 2006.
The interior features upgraded Recaro sport seats upholstered in Pearl Beige leather, complemented by matching rear upholstery. It has Alpina-specific features such as a Blaupunkt head unit paired with Panasonic speakers, a VDO-made computer/ventilation unit in the center of the dash, and Alpina-branded gauges, steering wheel, wooden shift knob, and leather door cards. It also includes a leather-covered dash, a central locking system, power windows, and cruise control. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order with no warning lights illuminated.
Power is derived from an Alpina-modified 3.5-liter inline-six engine, which includes a rebuilt K27 turbocharger, a reprogrammed Motronic fuel injection system, a revised cylinder head and camshaft, and lighter Mahle pistons. The rear wheels are driven through a Getrag 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller notes that the vehicle receives routine maintenance and has comprehensive service records.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, extra rear light assemblies, Alpina shocks and springs, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This impressive 1985 Alpina B7/1 Turbo #116 is on offer by its third owner who has invested a documented $50k+ during his 10+ years with the car to bring it to tip-top mechanical and cosmetic condition. One of only 236 built by Alpina at their Buchloe, Germany facilities between 1984 and 1987, the car was imported when new to Tennessee but spent most of its life in Georgia. Said to be one of only six in the US, power is in the order of 300+ HP and 369 lb-ft of torque thanks to Alpina-engineered tricks like a reprogrammed Motronic injection system, modified cylinder head, lighter pistons, different cam, header, and 3-inch exhaust. Suspension and brakes are also unique to the B7/1 Turbo, and this specific example is said to have won multiple concours and car shows during the past 10+ years as well. Described as fast, sorted, and meticulously detailed, it is offered with full records from day one.”

sorry in my car...As You mentioned . I restored the car by repainting it and replacing all trim and rubber. The Car is complete Alpina with exception of the Exhaust and Brakes. I even have a spare set of Alpina Struts shocks and springs that will all go with the car as well as many spare parts. I am not sure what negative comments you are referring to because I am on every forum and this simply is not the case.
@GaAlpinaowner… thank you for the assist here.
@hurlapa1 I am the owner of this car and you are completely incorrect in your assessment. I am the 3rd owner. I restored the car There is no controversy about this car on the forums as you
@hurlapa1… this car was originally Diamond Schwartz Metallic. If you see the engine photo, you should see the color plate on the passenger side. Also this car has been under the same ownership since 2002. It was not sold on EBay in the 2010’s.
@vall_com.. i am not sure I can get that info prior to the end of the listing. I am on a plane currently but I am trying to see if I can locate the info in the digital file I have
upon doing more reaserch about this alpina I have found many unknowns regarding the previous history... first off we dont know the actual delivery color, which on carfax was noted as "grey" it has been sold many times including on ebay in the early 2010's with too many negative comments, not sure why #116 has lots of controversy on many forums including m5board.com and mye28.com, do your homework guys!
Would like to know the engine number and chassis number
@vall_com.. we do have the Alpina build documents in the file. I apologize as I am on a plane headed to LA and cannot access the file.
Is there any Alpina documentation about this car?
Bid in the amount of $50,000
@grey635.. thanks so much for the comments. I could not agree more about the condition of the car and how it has been cared for under the watchful eye of the owner.
As this listing comes toward a close, we are available for any last minute questions. We are also happy to assist with any transport after to the completion of the transaction. We prefer a wire transaction for funding. Thank you all for the comments and best of luck on this amazing opportunity to buy such a rare and unique E28!
I know this car, and its prior owner, very well. I also know the shop in Atlanta that has tended to this car. The best in the southeast. I use them, too.
The owner is the kind of guy who you'd want to buy a used car from. I have no interest in this auction, other than to hope that this very rare and wonderful example finds a good new home.
I am also the prior owner of Alpina B9, #436/e28 body, so I know these vehicles pretty well. Both my B9 and this B7 were displayed together at the Hilton Head Concours about 12 years ago.

@thegroupbofficial... no promises on this request, the weather has not been the most cooperative to pull the car out. We will try and see if we can accommodate.
Can you post a video of the car at wide open throttle and on boost? thanks nice looking alpina
@hurlapa1.. the original door handles and several other "spare" parts will be included in the sale of the car.
@vall_com.. we have located the parts receipt for the purchase of the Euro Bumper, Metal Strip and B-Tip Euro
(dated 09/03/04). Total cost was $176.45 at the time- those were the days! I can add this to the gallery if needed.
Hi,
Any update on invoice for the bumper replacement?
@GaAlpinaowner...thanks for the assist!
@EFIII very similar car but not the same one. This is #116
@hurlapa1 wow!! Great eye!
Was this car featured in a Roudel article by chance?
Bid in the amount of $15,000
Bid in the amount of $12,500
@vall_com... I will take a look in the service file to see if the repair order is in the records. Carfax is showing the incident as a minor. The owner told me this morning it was only the rear bumper, and it was simpler to replace the component at the time.
Ponyup thanks for a quick reply. From my experience minor accidents just require paint not bumper cover replacement. Were horns pushed in? It would be pretty important to me and probably other bidders to know the severity or dollar amount in repairs that were done. Clearly it was an insurance job because it made it on Carfax, replacement cost of the euro spec bumper is way less than what damage on Carfax does to value of of this B7.
@Wmcnair... thanks for the question. According to the owner, the car was exempt from GA emissions yet the State still posted the emission results.
@hurlapa1...the Alpina livery are decals applied to the car.
@vall_comm.. we do not have any pictures of the vehicle at the time of the minor incident in 2006. The damage was isolated to the rear bumper only. It did not hurt any body panels. The rear bumper was fully replaced with a Euro spec bumper at the time.
@texmillerxx60... We will get some paint meter reading in the next day or so.
@PcarMarket... thanks for all the great questions!
Good morning seller. Can you describe what was damaged on the rear end accident and what was repaired/replaced or repainted. A paint meter reading of the car would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi,
I almost bought an E28 M5 that also had minor on Carfax and during PPI found out that car has spare tire tub replaced including trunk lid and both quarters had bondo. Could you post pictures before and after the accident so we have a better idea what happened. Any body shop invoices would be great also.
The door handles are NOT supposed to be painted in body color, also, is the alpina livery painted in or are they stickers?
I don't think pcar market is the ideal place to list an 80's Alpina car, especially a rare car like a B7 Turbo. There have been a few other E28 B7 Turbos posted on bringatrailer and that seems to bring the right eyeballs from the "if you know/you know" Alpina fans.
Is there a specific reason why the vehicle failed to pass GA emissions 4 times? I can’t imagine being in CA and trying to smog this thing!
@Silver930… thanks for the comment! Couldn’t agree more!
This is really cool so classic good luck with sale.

Good evening #PcarMarket! This is an unbelievable opportunity to own a true classic. Yielded as the “fastest” production car in its day the E28 Alpina B7 Turbo is a spectacular example. Nothing on this car has been left unanswered. Its classic lines yet subtle Alpina special components and tuning leave the driver just wanting to drive. Please review the gallery. Happy to answer any questions throughout the auction. Best of luck to all bidders! # AlpinaB7 turbo #E28alpina
