Produced in collaboration between Carroll Shelby and British specialty automaker AC, the Cobra utilizes a lightweight tubular space frame with aluminum bodywork in conjunction with a powerful Ford V8 engine. This 1985 example was hand built by Autokraft at their factory at the Brooklands race track in England, using the original wooden dies used to make the original AC Cobra. It was then shipped to Roush Performance in the United States for the installation of a 5.0-liter Ford V8, fitted with GT40 heads and paired with a Tremec 5-speed manual transmission. In 2010, the chassis was completely refurbished by Roush, and the seats were reupholstered in 2020. Said to be one of 480 examples produced by Autokraft and remaining under the care of its original owner who purchased the car new in 1985, this 1985 AC Cobra Mk IV was previously listed on PCARMARKET and is now being offered for auction out Michigan.
The hand-rolled aluminum bodywork is factory finished in red, and the chassis is constructed from 4” diameter steel tubing using the original AC 427 Cobra jig, then MIG welded for maximum torsional rigidity, reportedly requiring around 200 man-hours to complete. Equipment includes fiberglass inner fenders, chrome bumperettes at both ends, chrome gravel guards, chrome Talbot-style Classic GT mirrors, and a chrome windshield surround, as well as a tan tonneau cover, fender vents, wind wings, a racing-style fuel filler cap, and dual polished exhaust outlets. The seller notes some minor scratches throughout and some small blemishes on the hood, detailed images are provided in the gallery. The Halibrand 15″ knock-off wheels are mounted with Goodyear tires in the front and Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S tires in the rear that were said to have been mounted around 10 years ago and only traveled 2k miles since.
The cabin is trimmed in tan Connolly leather, which extends from the low-back bucket seats to the dashboard and door panels, with matching deep pile Wilton carpeting. Interior features include a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, Simpson lap belts, a heater, a locking glove box, a wood-rimmed AC-branded steering wheel, an AC-branded wood shift knob, a Kenwood radio, and a central array of instrumentation including an analog clock and gauges for the oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level, and battery voltage.
This AC Cobra is equipped with a 5.0L Ford V8 fitted with GT40 heads, which is said to produce around 450 HP, installed by Roush Performance. The rear wheels are driven by a 5-speed Tremec transmission and a Salisbury limited-slip differential. Performance features include an independent adjustable suspension with unequal-length wishbones and Koni dampeners, 4-wheel power-assisted disc brakes, and a Ford Motorsport performance ignition system. The seller reports that the chassis was completely refurbished by Roush Performance in 2010, and a tune-up and oil service were performed in preparation for the sale.
This sale will include a clean title and an Autokraft brochure detailing the construction of the AC Cobra.

@Rmmuccioli1 Thank you. Much prefer this car's rear exit exhaust as I burned myself countless times on my prior Cobra's side pipes. Also really like the scoopless bonnet which makes for a cleaner design.
@Valor1 Car has had yearly upgrades to keep it perfect condition including seat webbing
@elipper Thank you. Was anything done to the car since then?
