Making its debut in 1980, the 928S was offered as the top of the 928 model line, equipped with a more powerful 4.7-liter V8 engine, 16” forged aluminum wheels, upgraded brakes, aerodynamic spoilers, and enhanced creature comforts. This 1984 example is finished in Pewter Metallic over a Black leather interior and features pop-up headlights, a sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, and a Sony CD stereo. This 928S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.
Finished in Pewter Metallic (956), the 928 features pop-up headlights with washers, fog lights, S-specific front and rear spoilers, along with optional protective side moldings. It rides on factory 16” flat-disc wheels and additional equipment includes a power-operated sunroof and dual exhaust outlets. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is upholstered in Black leather and features power-adjustable front seats along with cruise control, power windows, locks, and mirrors. The seller reports a Sony CD stereo was fitted along with aftermarket rear speakers, an aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel, and an aftermarket shift knob. It is also noted that the upper dashboard is warped and cracked, the air conditioning does not blow cold, wear is present on the driver’s seat cushion, and a split in the inner right rear seat bolster is noted, along with additional interior blemishes shown in the gallery.
Powered by a 4.7-liter V featuring L-Jetronic fuel injection, the 928 sends up to 234 HP and 263 lb.-ft. of torque to its rear wheels by way of a 4-speed automatic transaxle. Standard performance equipment includes a Weissach rear axle, front and rear stabilizer bars, and 4-wheel vented disc brakes. It is noted that aftermarket air filters and intake ducts have been fitted, and work performed in October of 2022 included the replacement of the spark plugs, fuel pressure regulator, and fuel filter, along with flushing of the fuel injection system. The seller reports that the car is in fair condition and starts, though it runs rough, and has drained the transmission fluid, which has not since been replaced.
This sale will include a clean title. The CARFAX report indicates a mileage discrepancy, though no accidents or other damage is indicated.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a great project car. Own a piece of automotive history.”

@altru23 I would buy it, if it were drivable. Car carriers don't like dealing with cars that don't drive. I have owned two of these in the past. They are great touring cars. Good luck with the auction.
@Porsche930991Macan as you probably know parts are expensive and hard to come by. For parts or restoration, it’s a nice car.
Great deal for a part-out! Wheels alone worth the going price.
Bid in the amount of $500
It this point I will not be able to provide any further pictures or info.
Any chance of seeing the under carriage? Interested in seeing the transmission fluid pan.
@Porsche930991Macan yes, it still runs. A little rough but it was running and driving when the transmission fluid was drained. My son quickly found out he got in over his head attempting to restore this. It’s a beautiful car!
Does it still run? Since there is no transmission, it would have to be winched onto carrier - correct?

@1991928gt as far as we know it’s a 928S
@1991928gt it’s pretty much in the same condition. Some of the rug was bad so it was removed. Also drained the gas an put new gas.
Car is not insureds bc it is not being driven.
@1991928gt My son drained the transmission fluid and he doesn’t know how to put new fluid back in.
The car was driving when he drained the transmission fluid.
Is it an S? that looks like a 16v engine?
What happened to the car since the Oct 2022 BaT sale? Was it registered and insured in the miami area?
Does the car drive? it was driving in Oct 2022, why wouldn't you put some transmission fluid in to sell it?
Least have a paint job that matches

It just looks like a manual, but it’s an automatic
@altru23 Is It auto or manual? I am a buyer if it's actually manual gear box!
Good day everyone! Welcome to my auction. Just want to give a little history n the vehicle. My father purchased the car about 2 years ago at Bring a Trailer. The car was then given to my son as a project car. We drained the gas and changed the oil. Car started and ran. We proceeded to drain the transmisión fluid and that’s where we stopped. The 928S is a beautiful car, but it needs to be in the right hands to restore it. We have decided to put her in the hands of someone that has the knowledge to take her back to her original glory! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Good luck bidding!
It looks like a manual boot but it’s an automatic.
Not sure what the stricter is.
I'm confused, states its a automatic but clearly has a manual shift boot. what is the tag in the windshield for? Was it at another auction?
