Founded by Vittorio Strosek in 1971, Vittorio Strosek Autodesign GmbH is known for creating some of the most iconic modified Porsche 911s and show cars throughout the 1980s and 90s. Featuring Strosek’s signature Mega Speedster widebody kit, this 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera is a Rest of World (RoW) example that was imported to the U.S. as a gray market car in the mid-1980s. The car spent time in Illinois before moving to California where it underwent its custom body conversion during the 1990s by Fred Opert Racing, an authorized Strosek retailer at the time. It features widened fenders, a Speedster-style tonneau cover, mini projector headlamps, a custom two-tone leather interior, an upgraded sound system, and 17” Strosek wheels. Purchased by the seller in 2023, this Strosek Mega Speedster is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
This 911 is finished in Black and features a Strosek Mega Speedster conversion including a 911 Speedster windshield, side windows, and double-hump tonneau cover, widened fenders with integrated rocker and air scoops, custom bumpers, and a fixed rear spoiler. Other equipment includes a black convertible soft top, 964-style taillights, Strosek mini projector headlights, integrated fog lights, dual exhaust outlets, red-painted brake calipers, and polished staggered-width 17” Strosek wheels. The seller believes the car was completely refinished at the time of the body conversion and indicates the exterior is in good condition for its age with some minor chips and imperfections. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report.
The cabin has been redone with custom black and red leather upholstery complemented by matching Strosek-branded floor mats. Accessories include heated and power-adjustable front seats, a four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, manual window rollers, a central locking system, air conditioning, and a Kenwood stereo paired with a custom subwoofer enclosure behind the seats. All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly.
The RoW-spec 3.2-liter flat-six engine was factory-rated at 231 HP and sends power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed Type 915 manual transmission. A service invoice shows replacements of the battery, fuel filter, spark plugs, seat switch, distributor cap/rotor, alternator and A/C belts, valve cover gaskets, convertible top support, and a rear wheel bearing in 2022.
The seller indicates the car was stolen and recovered in 1988 at 5k miles, before the Strosek conversion. The CARFAX report shows a salvage title was previously issued by the state of California, however, the car previously had a clean California title and currently has a clean Florida title in the seller's name.

Probably RNM
Going price for just the Speedster parts right now is about $70k
@nobrakes, understand your point, however, frugal and or always seem to be on a budget, so why offer more than needed
And part of the interest ( fun ? ) is placing a larger bid.... ( not a blow out bid if not needed )
The Speedster parts are worth a lot of $$ and Strosek wheels are unobtanium at this point.
Bid in the amount of $89,000
not your run of the mill g-body, that's for sure
Pretty interesting build, it does look fast, a lot of RED in the interior ( for me )
@sportscarguy3 people with real intent know bout what it is going to sell for and certainly what it is worth to them. Why dink around with $500 bids all afternoon. Cut to the chase.
Although the base vehicle isn't an original Speedster, Fred Opert and Bob Anziano built some of the highest level Porsches in the 90's and 2000's. I own a '89 Speedster that was built by Anziano and the level of details and overall quality is up there with modern Porsche builders. My Mega Speedster receives more attention than most other 6 and 7 figure cars when I take it to car shows.

I will NEVER understand why people do this
Why bid so much more than the last bid ! ?
Why not just go with the flow / why offer / spend more than you need to to win the car ! ?
( this is not BaT anyone can make an offer in the Deal Tank , not only the highest bidder )

Still interested in whether this Porsche has, or will be considered, " Salvaged Title " here in Northern California ?
Understand it " had " clear title in Ca previously and clear in Fla.
However, my insurance company , State Farm, will not insure a salvaged title vehicle

@Bruce914 - All Strosek kits were made of fiberglass.
The car has a clean title, not a salvage one. It was involved in a theft in 1988 in California, but it had a clean California title when I acquired it, and it currently has a clean Florida title. Carfax shows a California salvage title history, which might be attributed to the theft record.
Good looking car. Is the kit metal or fiberglass? Does the salvage title show up on the carfax?
Hello everyone. Welcome to the auction of my stunning Strosek Speedster! This beauty looks just as impressive in person as it does in the photos. It turns heads wherever I go. You'll be the highlight of any car show!
Everything works as it should. A/C blows cold. Starts right up every time, and drives like a dream. Next owner will be thrilled!
