Representing the inaugural year of the Carrera 3.2, this 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet comes finished in Guards Red over a Black leather interior along with factory optional spoilers, 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels, and Sport Shock Absorbers. It was acquired by the current owners in 1988 and has been garage-kept ever since while being routinely serviced and sparingly driven for mechanical exercise. Accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and an extensive collection of maintenance records dating back 35 years, this Carrera Cabriolet is now being offered for auction out of Tennessee with approximately 78k miles showing on the odometer.
This Carrera is finished in Guards Red with a black cabriolet roof and a factory optional spoiler at the front as well as original 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. The seller notes a set of Dunlop SP Sport FM901 tires were mounted in 2003 at 69,342 miles. In 1994, the inner trunk panel is said to have been replaced with a new piece and undercoated for protection. The seller describes the exterior paint to be in excellent original condition apart from some minor signs of road-going wear, an imperfection on the driver’s side headlight ring, and one very small scratch on the passenger door which has been touched up. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black leather interior features a pair of front Sports Seats and an aftermarket Personal Emerson Fittipaldi three-spoke steering wheel. The seller notes the carpeting has been replaced, the rear seat backrests have been removed, and an under-dash air conditioning system has been installed along with a short-throw shifter. Signs of wear are present on the seats and the seller reports that the clock works intermittently. All other gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
An air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 207 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a Type 915 5-speed manual transaxle. Optional Sport Shock Absorbers came equipped from the factory and upgraded Turbo tie rods have been installed. A top-end engine rebuild was completed at approximately 62,415 miles including new rings and head studs, new brakes were installed at 69,588 miles, and the last major service is said to have been completed at 77,987 miles. All corresponding maintenance invoices are included with the sale.
This sale will include extensive maintenance records, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a car cover, a battery charger, a service manual, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “My husband and I purchased the car from Reeves Import Motor Cars in Tampa, Florida towards the end of February or early March in 1988. We have had this car for 35 years and it has always been in a garage with a car cover to protect it. It has always been maintained as we have service records from the day we purchased it up until our last major service on the vehicle at 77,987 miles. The purpose of selling the car is that we do not drive it that much and hate to see it sitting in the garage. The car is driven periodically to maintain the performance of the car. It has not sat in storage at all for any length of time. In the car was always a Florida car until late 2005 when we moved to Tennessee. The car has never been driven on salted roads, nor has it ever used or left any oil.”
