This 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe was acquired by the seller in 2021 from its previous owner of 20 years. It has been customized with a focus on lightweight performance and driver engagement with the removal of the climate controls, rear seats, radio, and sound insulation along with lowering the suspension and installing a Dansk catalytic converter bypass. The cabin has also been modified with lightweight RS-style door panels and carpeting, Cobra bucket seats, Sabelt safety harnesses, a MOMO steering wheel, and Rennline track mats. An excellent choice for any air-cooled driving enthusiast, this 1984 Carrera is now being offered for auction out of Florida with approximately 147k miles on the odometer.

This non-sunroof Coupe is finished in Grand Prix White and has been customized with removable Martini Racing decals, aftermarket black mirrors, a front chin spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, and the deletion of the rocker panels. Other details include integrated front fog lights, headlamp washers, and chrome 16” Fuchs alloy wheels. The car rides on a set of Yokohama Parada 205/45 tires from 2004. The seller indicates patina and road-going wear are present throughout the exterior as well as a minor door ding on the passenger side. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the cabin has been stripped of sound insulation, lights, and accessory wiring along with the climate control system, radio, and rear seats. A lightweight RS carpet kit has been installed in addition to tan RS-style door panels with power window switches and red cloth pull straps. Other features include Cobra bucket seats, Sabelt 5-point safety harnesses, Rennline aluminum track mats and floorboards, a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, a Vosstek gas pedal, and a Martini-themed ignition lock surround. The seller notes that the windshield wiper switch has been removed and the original rubber shift boot, seats, and heater components will be provided to the next owner along with other miscellaneous removed parts.

An air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 207 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. The suspension has been lowered and the catalytic converter has been removed with a Dansk bypass pipe. Noted maintenance history includes the replacement of the crank position sensor and battery in October 2022 and an oil service in March 2023. The original catalytic converter is included in the sale.

This sale will include a clean title, the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, a battery charger, the original seats, heater components, a catalytic converter, and other miscellaneous parts.

The seller would like you to know: “Welcome to the auction.  Guys this was my dream car. I found the perfect example for my taste, 3 years ago after many years of searching. Unfortunate events are forcing me to put it up for sale. I always looked for a driver-quality car. Mechanically good, great looking but not perfect, so you can enjoy it to the fullest and drive it as it is supposed to be done, with zero regrets, instead of dusting it once a month in AC storage and wishing you could take it out for a spirited run, but can’t because it will depreciate it’s value. This one checks all the boxes: Grand Prix white original paint, no sunroof from the factory, outlawed, Fuchs, solid body, no accidents, no body panels repairs. If you are an enthusiast, you want it Driving it is the most thrilling thing you can experience with the clothes on. It hugs the road, the steering wheel is solid and gives you amazing feedback. No body roll, the car feels glued to the road. If you are a collector, you need it, let the nice one sit and appreciate, this one will be the mistress.  It sounds amazing, it has the roar, the pops, and it’s loud and intimidating. You hear everything, OUTLAW baby! The perfect RWB donor if you want to go that way. I’m the 3rd owner. Bought the car in 2021 from a Porsche enthusiast and PCA member, who owned the car for 20+ years. He was selling his Porsches due to his age and joint issues restricting him from driving manual vehicles. The lack of maintenance records is because he was the one working on his vehicles and never kept a journal of it. In my possession, the car needed only a speed sensor replaced, which I did myself. Mechanically the car is in great shape and needs nothing. The idea behind it was lightweight, raw, outlaw looks combined with an RS-like driving feel. Lightweight was the main goal, so the previous owner started the project by gutting the interior and all sound insulations, and removing all heater components, AC components, and unnecessary interior lighting wiring.  Only dashboard lights are operational. The wipers are operational, but the wiper switch broke, and I never replaced it, since I drive it only in nice weather. The car was lowered, and a Dansk cat delete was installed, for all the Cali folks, I have the original catalytic converter and it’s included with the sale. Included with the sale are also the original seats (driver and passenger). Two bins with all that’s been removed. Wiring, heater components, and other misc. parts and accessories. My contribution was inspired by Magnus Walker’s cars. The exterior is being kept rough and original, showing the patina, road rush, and battle scars through the years. I always picture an old lion’s face covered in scars but still proudly holding the title of king. With all that said the paint does not look dull and it shines despite the 40 years. The interior is old racing, inspired with 70s style very light seats, 5-point seat belts and period correct Momo steering wheel, RS style door panels, and lightweight RS style carpet. The modern touches are the Rennline floorboards, racing mats, and shift linkage cover. Also, let’s not forget the tasteful (to me) 3M high-quality Martini Racing decals. By the way, all decals can be removed in 5-10 min if not to the buyer’s liking.”

@84 Carrera - Love the non-sunroof option. Has this car had any paint work? Looks like lower rockers/tub have overspray on them.

  • wesbourne (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

I'm a weight weenie in most cases, but removing the AC in Florida is taking it to another level! Looks like a great driver, one that the next owner can properly enjoy.

  • 84Carrera (seller) 10 months, 2 weeksago

@eggsandwich I did not do ppi when I purchased and have not done it for this sale.
The engine is strong, pulls hard, it’s not burning oil. There are no symptoms that will have me worried and require the reassurance of a test.

  • eggsandwich (registered bidder) 10 months, 2 weeksago

Hi @84Carrera, Any PPI information available? Leakdown, compression, etc?
Maybe you did that when you bought it?

  • 84Carrera (seller) 10 months, 3 weeksago

@acanet88 I sent couple pictures to pcarmarket.
Expecting to be uploaded in the morning.

  • acanet88 (registered bidder) 10 months, 3 weeksago

@84Carrera can you please add a photo of those?

  • 84Carrera (seller) 10 months, 3 weeksago

@acanet88 you probably will fit, but most likely will not be comfortable. Using the original seats might be a better option. They are included with the sale.

  • acanet88 (registered bidder) 10 months, 3 weeksago

    I'm 6'3 210, do i fit in those seats?

Even many die-hard Porsche enthusiasts likely wouldn't realize just how rare it is to find a 3.2L US Carrera that was ordered without a sunroof. Rarer then hen's teeth...this is a spectacular opportunity for the right 'ultra-purist'. I wish I was in the market as THIS is the car I'd want for myself. GLWTA
