Up for auction is this 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe finished in Chiffon White over a black interior. Marking the inaugural model year for the Carrera 3.2, this 1984 example spent nearly its entire life in North Carolina before being recently acquired by the seller in Florida. Having been kept in great shape throughout the years with a full respray in its original color as well as a complete engine rebuild at 101k miles, and another top-end rebuild at 129k miles, this nicely appointed 5-speed Carrera is now being offered for auction with approximately 146k miles (TMU) showing on the odometer by its seller out of Miami FL.
This 911 was previously refinished in its original color of Chiffon White, and the paint is said to remain in very nice condition throughout. CARFAX shows front-end damage to have occurred in 1991 and the seller reports no signs of persisting damage or repair records. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. This 1984 example features black stone guards, a front valence with integrated fog lights, and classic 15” Fuchs wheels currently dressed in a set of healthy BFGoodrich G-Force Super Sport tires.
Inside, this Carrera features a well-presented black interior with a 930SE-style steering wheel and reupholstered front seats with custom white piping. Under-dash A/C vents have been installed along with an aftermarket Pioneer radio. Some small tears are noted on the headliner and the cabin is said to be in very good condition otherwise with all gauges and accessories working properly. CARFAX shows a potential odometer rollback which is suspected by the seller to be the result of a clerical error.
This Carrera is equipped with an air-cooled 3.2 L flat-six engine that sends 207 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed 915 manual gearbox. This example is said to be accompanied by service records dating back to 1998 including a 2003 invoice from Foreign Accents showing a full engine rebuild to have been carried out with new pistons and cylinders at 101,469 miles. Another invoice from 2010 shows a top-end engine rebuild to have been carried out with new head studs by Black Forest Garage at 129,289 miles. The seller reports this Carrera to be in strong running order at this time.
This sale will include a set of 2 keys, an owner’s manual, some service records, and a clean title. With its tasteful specifications and well-kept appearance, this first-year Carrera 3.2 is an ideal choice for any aspiring air-cooled owner.

@VertexAuto Thank you for the prompt response.
A sweet Porsche
@sportscarguy3 Thank you! Yes, it's my favorite steering wheel. The is one on Ebay right now for about $1,000. Just search "Clubsport steering wheel 911 930 Turbo RS".
I had 1978 Targa this color.. Very nice.
Also, dig the 930 steering wheel. Any idea where it came from and or how to find one now
( I am looking for a 993 or 930 and want this wheel )
Handsome Porsche, good luck at crunch time.
@stuttgartcentral Yes, everything works properly. Sunroof, windows, wipers, lights, etc. No smoke at start up at all. I posted a cold start video to show that.
Not sure about oil consumption as we have not driven it enough to measure.
The AC was upgrade with a Griffith system that has an additional condenser on the rear wheel well.
Could you post some pics of the headliner? Thanks,
@vertexauto Does everything work properly? Heat, AC, windows, stereo, etc.
Any smoke at cold startup? How much oil does the motor consume?
Thanks!
Just a few hours left on this auction. We'll try to be as available as possible throughout the day. Feel free to send any final question or picture requests. We will do our best to get the info back ASAP. Thank you to all who commented, bid, called with questions, and/or came to see the car in person.
We just posted some images of the underside and engine, as well as a start up and walk around video. Thank you!
A new video has been added to the listing page.
Additional photos have been added to the listing gallery.
Noticed there is some rough wear on driver door by handle and storage pocket. Is that scuffled or cleanable? Also what does other door look like in same zone? Thx!
@Tatos We just took it off for the pics.
@0tohero1 Yes, you can come see the car. Just call us so that we can set a time. Thanks!
Is it missing the trunk liner or did you just take it off for photos?
Hi I’m located in Miami also. Can I see the vehicle in person by going to vertex auto? Thank you
@Folcat33 I'll work on those right now.
any vids you can post of her in action? cold start? etc? thanks!
@Folcat33 I hear you! Beautiful car in great shape and drives awesome. I guess it's an opportunity for someone to own a beautiful rare care without having to pay a premium.
I personally buy my cars based on condition and not millage. I've seen them with 192k miles and is in near perfect condition, and I've seen them with 66k miles and in need of a whole lot.
@VertexAuto ahhh...this is too bad. A beauty of a car, but too much uncertainty in mileage with a discrepancy like that.
@Haltung From what I can see, either there were two wrong entries or a rollback. They also could have taken out a non-working odometer and temporarily replaced with another while they get around to repairing the original. We've seen this before.
The service records we have start with a full brake job and maintenance on 4-20-98 at 86.7K miles, so its hard to tell. Ultimately this is a TMU car.
@VertexAuto Do you have any further explanation on the odometer rollback?
1988 - 53K
1995 - 152K
1997 - 157K
1998 - 91K and then progresses from there.
I'm just trying to imagine how a clerical error could make this sequence possible?
Could be; thanks for replying on that comment.
@Choyt That’s seems unlikely. The rims are different widths so the tires wouldn’t be able to be mounted in reverse. Perhaps it’s the lighting on the image.
Bid in the amount of $30,911
It appears that looking at the shot of the car, the driver side tires are backwards, i.e., the rear tire is on the front and the front tire is on the back? Or is it a bad angle of the shot?
Bid in the amount of $28,911
