We are pleased to offer this 1984 911 M491 backdate for auction. Starting life as a solid 1984 M491 Carrera, the builder, Kealoha Autosport purchased the car from a friend who had three M491 models at the time. Kealoha Autosport took possession of this Carrera when it was showing just 88k miles, at which point they began transforming it into the incredible backdate you see today. Their goal was to complete a high-quality backdate without disrupting the soul of the original car. It now features high-quality upgrades, raw air-cooled performance, and an all-around world-class build quality. It is now being offered in like-new condition out of a climate controlled facility based out of Florence, AL.
In 2017, this backdate received a professional glass-out respray in its original color of Guards Red. The vehicle's paint is stated to be in exceptional condition and fits the build extremely well. The seller states that Suntek clear paint protection film has been installed on the bumpers, lower doors, rocker panels, front fenders, and rear quarter panels since completion.
Initial body work on this backdate included the deletion of the factory sunroof, a long hood conversion, installation of light-weight fiberglass bumpers, and a polished rear-hatch grille. All-new rubber seals/felts were installed along with a single drivers-side mirror, front and rear signal lenses and silver Porsche decals along the side rockers. It is safe to say that this is one eye-catching 911. The seller notes that both clear and yellow tinted headlights will be included with the sale. Currently installed are Braid 15” Fuchs-style wheels that wear Michelin TB15 tires.
The spectacular yet minimalist black partial leather interior is stated to be in excellent cosmetic condition. Upon opening the door, you will find bespoke features such as leather sport seats and RS-style perlon carpeting with custom sound deadening material installed by Autobahn Interiors. This build was also tastefully finished with leather basketweave door panels, leather door-pulls, a 4-spoke OEM-style leather steering wheel, wooden shift knob, custom gauges with silver centers, and an air-conditioning system. The seller notes that both the stock shift and custom wooden shift knob will be included in the sale.
Power comes from a 3.2L flat-six engine that is paired to a completely rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission. Boosting both the sound and performance of this backdate are a Steve Wong chip, K&N air intake, Fabspeed RSR exhaust, Elephant Racing and Tarett Engineering sway bars, and adjustable spring plates with quick-change torsion bars. The car is stated to be in excellent running condition with a valve adjustment and leak-down test performed.
The following items were replaced during time of build with only approximately 2k miles driven since:
The sale will include service records, books, documentation, a certificate of authenticity, and keys. Don't miss your opportunity to experience a prime example of pure air-cooled 911 fun.

Question is the Photos listed are from Dave Kealoha when he listed it on BAT a year and month ago. The listing dealer is using the same exact photos. minus a couple they took. I would be curious if the car is even in the same condition as it was than. Or if the undercarriage is scratched up or what not. Would be beneficial it they were to use their own pictures in its current state vs pictures from someone else. Even a video of it running. The video is from a year ago. Would be nice to see if it is smoking or running the same. Just seems odd or lazy? The car has been drove 2500 miles and the last owner had it a year or less. Did he sell it because of a issue or ? These are things to look at before sinking over a 100k on a car with so much unknown.

@thomasbeer The engine is the original (217hp/195 lb-ft), matching numbers, 3.2L Carrera flat-six. It has not been altered/rebuilt from stock, yet was removed & refreshed as part of Dave's build w/the Steve Wong chip. It has impressive power & throttle-response throughout the rev-range; it's very light & agile to amplify the power (even compared to our collection's 4.0L 100th Singer, it's power delivery is impressive).

What do you estimate the car's power as is?

@GBX - I apologize for the delay to respond; I'm attending a Porsche track event with a group of clients and I'm basically "off the grid" until it ends tomorrow evening. I'll catch-up on all questions ASAP. However 1) Yes; you can add a rear seats without issues. 2) I just forwarded the CoA photo to the admin to post in the gallery.

Aloha!
I built this car last year after acquiring it from a close friend and can say that this is a solid car. This car drives so nice and solid, performance from the mostly stock 3.2 is the best of any I have driven. I saw in the ad that the rotors and pads are new 2k miles ago, it was not mentioned we had just had PMB completely restore the factory turbo calipers to new spec at the same time as well as installing a limited slip differential then also. Whoever gets this car will be getting a very nice car based on a factory turbo chassis, M491, that has been comprehensively refreshed to new, good luck!
@GBX two kids then?
@Nathanbs heck yeah! Much easier to go out for a drive or to a show if you tell the wife you'll take a kid with ya :)
@GBX does anyone ever really use the rear seats? Just curious as I’m in the process of eliminating them now from a build.
