Two and a half years ago, The RSR Project, based out of Bedford Hills, NY, gave life to this beautifully executed RSR backdate. A 1984 911 Carrera was masterfully re-built to pay tribute to the legendary Porsche 911 RSR.

This RSR was completely re-built from the ground up using a fully in-tact 911 tub. The tub was media blasted to bare metal and fitted with steel flares along with an early 911 long hood. In true RSR fashion, a lightweight fiberglass trunk and ducktail spoiler were used along with fiberglass RSR bumpers and rubber deck lid latches.  Once the metalwork was completed, race car livery Gulf Blue paint was applied to a concours quality standard.  All new gaskets and rubber seals were installed during assembly. Black Carrera script and factory correct decals were affixed in all the appropriate locations as per the factory RSR. To complete the RSR’s authentic look, 15x9” & 15x11” Braid Fuch style RSR wheels were used and currently wear a set of vintage Michelin TB15 tires.

The minimalist RSR theme was followed through to the interior.  The main features of the interior include Shell bucket seats with tartan inserts along with a custom finished leather wrapped dash.  Light weight components such as RSR Perlon carpeting, radio delete, and RSR door panels were also used.  A refreshed pedal assembly and Wevo short shift kit were installed to enhance the sporty driving experience.

Powering this Porsche is a 3.2-liter flat-six engine paired with a 915 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine sports a pair of aluminum-coated headers, a ceramic-coated center pipe muffler, and a new alternator. The car received a new clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. For added reliability, a front-mounted oil cooler was installed to help regulate engine temperature.

Do not miss the opportunity to own this fun and unique Porsche. Accompanying the sale are all service records and 2 sets of keys.

Good Morning. I have reached out to the gentleman (Richard Shickman) who performed the build in order to answer you as accurately as possible. I am hoping to have an answer before the auction ends. I do know the engine was very low miles and serviced properly and thoroughly when out of the car and during build. I am not sure what else may have been completed, I did not have an issue with condition or power. The gearbox I was told had been completely rebuild, new clutch, etc.

    Hi All,

Many thanks for all the kinds words. This RSR is truly turn key, I purchased it for myself and later sold it to a friend of mine (basically because he wouldn’t leave me along lol) who used it 100 miles, loved it, but recently had a hip replacement (he a great friend and for many years) and thus traded it back in towards a late model Turbo with PDK. It doesn’t even have the slightest stone chip! The power to weight ratio and reliability make it superb to drive, it is docile, yet fast and reliable.

I am currently on The Ramshorn Air Cooled Porsche Rally in Montana with Bill l, the previous owner and buddy. We were going to take the RSR for the Rally, but the crazy guy in me did not want it to gather any dirt or stone chip, since it is perfect at this time. so it stayed at home. We are instead driving a 356B Carrera 4-Cam, I know, I know your hearts bleed for me lol, it is running flawlessly, but I am missing the power and sound of the RSR. There are other tributes on the Rally and everyone is having a blast. Don’t get me wrong the 4-Cam is not slouch, but it isn’t a hot rod 911!

I highly recommend that rally should anyone have the chance to partake in the future.

    Best,

    Tom P.
