Originally designed by Pininfarina, the Fiat 124 Sport Spider was eventually produced directly by Pininfarina and sold under their own brand as the Spider Azzurra from 1983 until 1985. This 1984 example is finished in silver-blue metallic paint over a tan interior and features a 2.0-liter inline-four engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The car is also equipped with Bosch electronic fuel injection, four-wheel disc brakes, power windows, air conditioning, leather seats, a three-spoke Nardi steering wheel, an Ansa exhaust, Koni shocks, and aftermarket 15” wheels. This classic Italian roadster is now being offered for auction out of Florida accompanied by a spare parts collection and the original 14” alloy wheels.

Produced by Pininfarina in San Giorgio Canavese, Italy, the car was designed by Pininfarina’s Tom Tjaarda, an American designer who also styled the Ferrari 365 California and De Tomaso Pantera. This 1984 example is finished in silver-blue metallic paint and features a blue convertible soft top, custom pinstriping, chrome impact bumpers, bright exterior trim, tinted glass, dual side mirrors, and aftermarket 15”x7” CD66 Cromodora-style wheels with Abarth logo center caps and 205/50 Dunlop Direzza tires. The original 14” alloy wheels are included with the sale. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing moderate damage in 1998 and minor damage to the front-right side from a sideswipe in 2020.

The cabin features tan leather bucket seats with a matching dashboard, door panels, and center console. Replacement blue carpeting has been installed along with a wood-rimmed Nardi three-spoke steering wheel. Accessories include a wood Pininfarina-logo shift knob, woodgrain dashboard trim, analog Veglia Borletti instrumentation, a digital clock, a locking glovebox, power windows, air conditioning, intermittent windshield wipers, and an aftermarket Pioneer CD stereo. The seller reports all gauges and accessories are functional, although the air conditioner does not blow cold.

Factory-rated at 102 HP and 110 lb.-ft of torque, the 2.0-liter DOHC inline-four Fiat engine is equipped with Bosch electronic fuel injection and an aftermarket Ansa exhaust. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brakes. The seller notes a 95-amp alternator has been installed along with Koni shock absorbers. The catalytic converter has been removed and is included in the sale. Service before the seller’s ownership included replacing the starter motor, upper and lower control arms, ball joints, master cylinder, tie rods, brake pads, brake proportioning valve, timing belt, accessory belts, and radiator hoses. Some minor oil seepage is noted from the engine.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, the original wheels, a boot cover, a factory shop manual, and a collection of spare parts.

The seller would like you to know: “The Pininfarina Azzurra was the continuation of the Fiat 124 Spider.  When Fiat discontinued the 124 due to rust problems, Pininfarina continued making the car but marketed it under the Pininfarina name.  It is the only car ever marketed as a Pininfarina.  Pininfarina's name was on lots of cars but never as the manufacturer till this car.  They made over 100 improvements to the car including making the body out of galvanized steel and offering a seven-year rust warranty.  This example is in exceptional condition and shows just over 67,000 original miles.  My only reason for selling the car is that I am out of storage space.  I will be happy to answer any questions and supply any additional pictures.  Thank you.”

The tires are date coded for 3316. The color code is Azzuro Metallic 876. Also called Azzura Blue or simply Metallic Blue. It is the original color. I will post a picture of the color tag.

What is the date code on the tires? I cannot read it from the tire you show on my phone and for some reason no photos ever load on my computer from P Car Market. I have no idea why?

@pca718 There are no dents, dings or imperfections in the paint or interior. This is the original color. I will look for the paint label tomorrow and if I can find it I will be happy to post a picture. Do you know where it is located? Thanks.

The body and interior look good in the photos. Are there any dents, dings or imperfections in the paint or interior? Is this the original color? Could you post a photo of the label that shows the paint color?

Very nice Pininfarina: Are all the electrical in good working order? Are you open to a PPI? Thanks in advance.

I just don't have the space for it. After I purchased this a 1965 Karmann Ghia Coupe that I had my eye on became available. I am mostly a Porsche and VW guy currently owning four Porsches and three old VW's bringing our car total to 14. Something has to go due to space limitations. Thanks for your question.

Quick question. You just bought the car in March of this year. May I ask why you would be getting rid of it so soon?

The damage was strictly sheet metal. I have the receipt for the repair which came to a total of $1523.05. The insurance claim was for $1639.20. The only parts that were required were a right side rocker moulding and clips and the only damage was on the right door. There was no structural damage of any kind. The color match is excellent. There are no signs of the repair. This happened before my ownership. The black side moulding appears to be installed with double sided tape. Thanks for your interest.

@Jkirshtein I'd like to know the answer to that 1st question myself. It doesn't look like any damage was done to the car, unless it's structural damage.

Hello- beautiful car. Two questions, the extent of the right side damage was? Any signs of the repair? Second, the black side moulding, is that simply 2 sided tape or riveted? Thanks.

Thanks for your comments. The car is even more stunning in person. Usually if a system is blowing cool but not cold indicates a lack of freon which can indicate a slow leak. Legally a system cannot be recharged unless a check for leaks is done. Frequently it is just a matter of tightening a few fittings. I personally prefer putting the top down but it is nice to have it working.

One of the nicest looking Pininfarina's I've seen and that color is so fitting. With the air conditioner not blowing cold is it likely in need of a refrigerant recharge? Or something at more fault with the unit itself?
