Launched at the 1981 Geneva Motor Show as an evolution of the Silhouette model, the Lamborghini Jalpa featured updated Bertone-designed bodywork and a larger 3.5-liter V8 with dual overhead camshafts and four two-barrel Weber carburetors. It was the last V8-powered Lamborghini before the Urus SUV model was introduced in 2017. This European-spec 1984 example is one of only 410 cars produced between 1981 and 1988. It comes finished in red over tan leather upholstery and features a gated 5-speed manual transaxle, fully independent suspension, a removable roof panel, an upgraded electronic ignition module, an aftermarket exhaust, O.Z. Racing wheels, air conditioning, and power windows. The car was reportedly cared for by the previous owner for about 30 years and spent approximately two decades in dry storage. This Jalpa was acquired by the seller in 2024 and subsequent maintenance, including rebuilt carburetors, transmission seals, axle seals, a coolant flush, an exterior ceramic coating, and more. Accompanied by the original tires, exhaust, owner’s book, a workshop manual, and a toolkit, this rare Lamborghini Jalpa is now being offered for auction out of Oklahoma with approximately 55k kilometers on the odometer.
Adapted from Marcello Gandini’s original design for the Silhouette, the Jalpa was styled by Marc Deschamps at Bertone. The car’s bodywork features distinctive wheel arch flares, pop-up headlamps, a front spoiler, side air intakes, and a vented engine cover. This example was reportedly refinished in its original red color about 20 years ago before being placed in storage, and the exterior is said to be in excellent overall condition with a ceramic coating applied in 2024. It comes equipped with Carello fog lamps, dual side mirrors, quad exhaust tips, and silver 16” Ruote O.Z. Racing wheels with new tires. The original Pirelli ties are included in the sale. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is appointed with tan leather upholstery, brown carpeting, and a black leather dashboard. Accessories include manually adjustable bucket seats, a black leather three-spoke steering wheel, a gated shifter assembly, air conditioning, power windows, analog Jaeger instrumentation, a vintage Alpine cassette stereo, a fire extinguisher, and black carpet floor mats with red Lamborghini emblems. The seller highlights that the cabin can spaciously accommodate occupants over 6 ft tall and notes some areas of the leather have been re-dyed, and a wrinkled spot of leather is present on the dashboard above the instrument cluster. The fuel gauge is said to read incorrectly on occasion.
The Jalpa features a 3.5-liter quad-cam DOHC V8 engine with four Weber 42 DCNF carburetors. It delivers a factory-rated output of 255 HP to the rear wheels through a Tremec TR3550 5-speed manual transaxle. Prior to the seller's acquisition, the clutch was replaced, and a valve replacement and head service were performed, as shown in the accompanying documentation. Service performed under the seller's ownership in the last 10 months includes rebuilt carburetors, a coolant flush, transmission seals, axle seals, and various other seals and gaskets. The car has been fitted with an upgraded electronic ignition module and an aftermarket exhaust system, and the original exhaust is included in the sale.
This sale will include an owner’s book, a toolkit, the original tires and exhaust, a workshop manual, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This one is a hard one to let go of, and it is only being offered for sale to fund a Cocktail Lounge/Restaurant venue I am finishing up on. With that being said, this car is a very sorted and dependable car that I have included only some of my personal usage enjoyment timeline via Facebook screenshots, so this car is definitely one that you can really jump in and enjoy. The cars don’t really get the credit they deserve, as they are great drivers, while also having a cockpit that easily allows a 6ft + tall drivers to sit in comfort, as I am 5’11” and actually drive with the seat halfway forward. Unlike the Ferrari 308, Testarossa, Pantera, and Countach that I have owned, this car has so much more comfortable room in a cockpit that makes sense. These cars will be rapidly increasing in value, and only 410 were built, so it is definitely a collector's hold car if there ever was one. And I will also say the pics don’t do the paint justice, as this is the cleanest body example I had seen in my search for a Jalpa. This car has never been offered for sale or auction, so it is not one of the same few cars that have bounced around the auction block over the last several years, so this Euro-spec car is a new offering in the Jalpa world.”

Thanks. That makes me feel much better.
@mjsizemore Yes it did. You are good to go.
Do you know if the Maserati MerakSS that I bought from you had the original valves replaced?
@mjsizemore They are said to be a weaker sodium valve that many of the exotics used, which is also a weak spot of the Masserati Meraks, which break and the destroy the motors.
What is the weakness with the original valves?
@Bulletproofauto I would think you'd have no problem fitting. The roof comes off as well!
Bid in the amount of $60,000
I would also Beg the next owner not to install the rear wing, and it is overdone to edge a Pantera versus a Countach look, and these cars have some odd and very clean lines that the wings completely throw off
Guys. I cannot stress enough, it anyone is ever looking for a Jalpa, it is very important to make sure the cylinder head valves have been replaced, as I have not seen too many previously offered showing the replacement was done. It is a very costly expense if you Do or Don’t Do this upgrade, as it cost a lot for the replacement, but cost even more with a destroyed motor if not. This car has been done, and it also has the original parts that comes with the car.
@Bulletproofauto Yes Sir. These cars cockpits are not built like all other exotics, so you would fit depending on body mass. lol.
@Viporghini at 6'3" would I fit in this?
Can vouch for seller - great guy and very knowledgeable about the Jalpa's (and many other vintage Italian cars). Took excellent care of this Lamborghini and he drove it at least weekly! Probably one of the most reliable Jalpa's I know about. Hate to see it go, but the new owner should join the Jalpa FB groups and our group chat! The vintage Lamborghini groups are very small and tight-knit.
Bid in the amount of $55,000
Beautiful car and wonderful photos and write up! I remember when these were in introduced they were in the shadow of the Countach. I have to say the design has aged better than it's big brother.
@nobrakes Ha ha, there is some truth to that as I had my 308gts to compare it to, and the Jalpa is definitely a Brute Car with so much more interior room. I am 5ft 11 and have to drive with the seat halfway forward. These are definitely the Vintage Exotic cars for taller people.
For anyone who is looking for a Jalpa, do make sure the original valves have been swapped like this one has, as it can be a catastrophic disaster for the motor.
What a car. Makes my 328GTS seem a bit pedestrian.
Bid in the amount of $50,000
