Representing Ferrari’s longest-running production series, the 365 GT4 2+2 and its derivatives are front-engine V12 four-seater grand touring cars with bodywork by Pininfarina. The 400i version was introduced in 1979 and featured a new Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection system. This 1984 Ferrari 400i GT is finished in Grigio Scuro Metallizzato over a Crema Connolly Leather interior and is one of only 422 cars to have been equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission out of 1,305 examples produced in total. It was originally delivered to Mr. William Cagney and imported to the United States by Tom Clark & Associates where it was registered in Florida up until 2021. Showing approximately 17,500 kilometers on the odometer, this rare Ferrari 400i GT is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.
Designed and manufactured in Turin by Pininfarina, the 400i’s completed bodywork was shipped to Ferrari in Modena and mated to a tubular steel chassis. Features include pop-up headlamps, a front spoiler, a vented bonnet, fog lights, a silver radiator grille, Pininfarina fender badges, circular taillights, dual mirrors, and twin double-tipped mufflers. This example is finished in Grigio Scuro Metallizzato (224612) and rides on factory silver-finished 415mm TRX five-spoke wheels dressed in older metric tires. The seller notes some small chips and scratches are visible in the paintwork, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The 2+2 cabin is lined with black carpeting and features Crema Connolly leather upholstery for the seats and door panels contrasted with brown leather on the dashboard and center console. Accessories include a color-coordinated fabric headliner, a black leather-wrapped three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, power windows, a locking glovebox, a vintage Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo, and Veglia Borletti instrumentation. The seller notes the front seats have been reupholstered and the functionality of the air conditioning has not been confirmed.
Up to 315 HP comes from a quad-cam 4.8-liter F101C Colombo V12 engine featuring Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The 400i comes standard with servo-assisted steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and double wishbone suspension with self-leveling shocks. Recent service is said to include rebuilt fuel distributors, new spark plugs, a new starter motor, a new stainless-steel exhaust, and an oil and filter change.
This sale will include some documentation, a spare tire, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “A rare factory manual 12-cylinder GT.”

Looks pretty nice with some needed work on suspension bushings but otherwise clean. Not a big deal but note that the speedometer is in miles and odometer reads 17,458 so probably not km. Owned a S2 5 speed for 15 years and have followed these cars since 1998 but haven't seen this serial number example before. Talk about under the radar! GLWTA!

I remember these when they were new at our family’s Ferrari dealership back in the day. SO cool and a rare manual indeed. This looks like a great example. GLWTS.

These cars, in GT (5 speed) form are not only rare, but offer true grand tourer ride with an incredible V12 soundtrack and better driving dynamics than you would think. I’ve owned a Series 1 400iGT for 20 years and it brings a smile every time I drive it.
Those who say otherwise have never driven one. This looks like a nice example with only little items needing attention. That stainless steel exhaust is not cheap.

Welcome to our Ferrari 400I auction. Great car with a rare factory manual shift.
We are here answer any questions, good bidding!
Something about this color that looks fantastic on a 400i, has me wanting to pop the collar on my polo shirt and transport back to 1984. We're currently selling a TDF blu 599 -- I love seeing the heritage of 12 cylinder GT Ferrari's. Beautifully presented by seller -- hope she find a loving home.
