Manufactured in Ontario, Canada, by Aurora Cars Limited, the Aurora Shelby Cobra Mark II replica was distributed through select North American dealerships, with approximately 177 units reportedly completed before the company went bankrupt. Constructed on an in-house designed tubular frame, the replica draws inspiration from the original “slab side” Cobra introduced in 1962 and is powered by a 302ci High-Output V8 engine from the early 1980s Mustang GT. This 1984 example comes finished in Midnight Black over white leather upholstery. Showing approximately 6k miles on the odometer, it is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
Built upon a dual-plane tubular spaceframe, this Aurora features a lightweight fiberglass body finished in Midnight Black (99-L). The body was covered in five layers of acrylic lacquer and wet-sanded for a high-quality finish. Replicating the iconic Cobra design, it showcases a prominent wide grille and large round headlights at the front, complemented by a sculpted hood with functional air vents for enhanced cooling. Distinctive flared fenders and twin exhaust pipes define the rear end. Additional details include a chrome roll bar, windshield trim, bumperettes, and matching knock-off wire wheels fitted with older tires. The seller notes some paint imperfections on the hood and trunk and minor surface rust and dulling of the metal finishes. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cockpit is outfitted with white leather upholstery, including low-back bucket seats and a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel. Amenities feature heating, a center armrest, a locking glovebox, door storage pockets, and central-mounted Smith instrumentation with chrome bezels. Black carpets with white piping complete the cabin. Signs of wear are noted, and the seller reports the stereo is currently inoperable.
Beneath the hood lies a Ford 302ci V8 derived from the third-generation Fox-body Mustang GT 5.0. A factory-rated 175 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a BorgWarner 5-speed manual transmission and a Salisbury limited-slip differential. Performance features include a 4-wheel independent suspension with coil springs and a rear suspension derived from the Jaguar E-Type with inboard disc brakes. In January 2024, the vehicle received a significant overhaul, including radiator and cylinder head servicing, a new water pump, cooling fan, and thermostat, brake adjustment, rewiring of the voltage regulator, fuse box, and turn signals, carburetor rebuild, and all-new fluids. A host of service documentation is provided in the gallery.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “The car was bought new in 1992 from Mike Parmakian of Stewart Classics in Colorado and delivered to Mrs. Crumpler, "Suzy Delaplane". It has been stored in her garage in Malibu, CA, for the past 32 years, only driving it around town occasionally. This is estimated to be car #140. In January 2024, the decision was made to sell the car. In preparation for the sale, the car had a major overhaul. Including the R&R radiator, R&R Cylinder heads, new water pump, new electrical cooling fan, replace the water pump and thermostat, adjusting breaks, rewiring voltage regulator, fuse box, and turn signal, re-build carburetor, and all new fluids. About Aurora Cars: form Auroracobra.com: Aurora manufactured replicas of the 1964 AC Cobra in exacting detail from 1981-1983 under original ownership, delivering between 157-170 exquisite cars (some later delivered partially completed). With 450 man-hours in each car, the Aurora was uniquely manufactured in many ways. With dual plane tubular space frame, four-wheel independent suspension and disc brakes (inboard rear for less unsprung weight), Salisbury (Jaguar) differential, luxurious Connolly leather interior, Smiths gauges, five layers of wet sanded acrylic lacquer, and even air conditioning, the Aurora had no equal. It was the only replica subjected to the rigors of US DOT specifications and trials and EPA compliance. In 1981, this meant crash testing, elaborate emissions suppression, 5-mph bumpers, side marker lights, steel reinforced doors, and much more. Every Aurora was delivered street-legal in 50 states, an achievement unique to Aurora Cars Limited among replica manufacturers. *auroracobra.org”

@surfside6 yes it is.
Is this car capable of a drive up to NorCal. I see the smog is done and registration looks to be in order.

Is there a soft top with the car or just the tonneau cover? Also, do you have a picture of the trunk interior that you could share? Thank you.
@entropy it was for the CA smog. Not a Dyno. I posted the image of the results. Its the last pic in the file.
@entropy Tom at auroracobra.org is a great resource for any Aurora info. He thinks it's in the #177 ballpark. All Aurora were made in Canada. They had dealers throughout the country. One of them was in CO. The great thing about them is they all have Federal Vin's. I am unclear when it was imported.
Please post the results of the run on the dyno. Thanks
How do you know that it is car #177? From what I found on Clubcobra the vin indicates that it was built in Canada. When was it imported?
@entropy The mileage discrepancy is due to the smog station entering the incorrect mileage. I will try to find the original smog receipt. Since the car was setting it would overheat when driving. At 5,629 miles the car had a new water pump, thermostat, and electrical cooling fan installed. This did not fix the overheating issue. On January 29, 2024, it was still overheating. She decided to - R&R the radiator and the heads. I have driving the car about 300 miles since. I have not had any issues with the car getting hot. This car is no. 177 of the production run. I can not speak to how the dealer acquired the car and sold it to Mrs. Delaplane. The paper trail shows that she bought the car in 1992 from the Co. dealer. The side pipes are pretty cool.
@N6OPV Hi there. Just uploaded the printout.

For those of us in California, please post the printout from the smog test. Thanks!
Why is there a discrepancy in the odometer reading as seen in the Carfax?
How can a car with only "6,200" miles possibly need new heads among the multitude of other problems?
The owner says, “The car was bought NEW in 1992 ..." but the last one was produced in 1984.
By -the-way, the tail pipes should go all the way to the rear.
