Reported to have been imported to the United States in January 2023, this 1983 Volkswagen Type 2 Double Cab Pickup was made in Brazil as a luxury edition. It has been refinished in a two-tone brown and tan color scheme over a reupholstered brown vinyl and cloth interior. Features include a 1600cc flat-four-cylinder engine, a 4-speed manual transmission, a bed with wooden slats and fold-down sides, and an aftermarket stereo. Said to have undergone recent maintenance, it is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Oklahoma showing approximately 195k kilometers (~121k miles) on the odometer.
This Type 2 has been refinished in brown and tan and features a bed with wooden slats and fold-down sides. Exterior details include a unique three-door configuration, a brown-painted VW front logo, black side mirrors, and black front and rear bumpers. It rides on silver-finished 14” steel wheels with chrome VW hubcaps, which are dressed in Firestone CV-2000 tires. The seller notes a minor blemish on the roof and a chip on the right taillight lens. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior has been reupholstered in brown vinyl with complementing brown cloth inserts that can be found on the seats and lower door panels. Details include brown floor mats and an aftermarket stereo. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
This Volkswagen is equipped with a 1600c flat-four-cylinder engine that sends power to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. It is stopped by front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. The seller notes that they have replaced the spark plugs, replaced the push rod tubes, adjusted the valves, cleaned the carburetor, and performed an oil change.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this bus for over 2 years now and I'm the 3rd owner. This VW bus is the Brazilian luxury edition, distinguished by upgraded upholstery featuring matching vinyl and cloth materials on both the seats and door panels. In addition, it boasts a two-tone exterior color scheme, making it a standout model. This version is similar to the champagne edition marketed in the US and is notable for not featuring the standard black vinyl and cardboard door panels.”

@jns7853 I think that has to be older than 1975 to be registered in CA.
Beautiful double cab. Any idea if this can be registered in California? I'm guessing that it wouldn't have CARB-compliant emission control equipment installed.
