Available for auction is this 1983 Porsche 944 finished in Guards Red over a Beige/ Brown Berber cloth interior. This Porsche 944 was sold new at HBL inc. of Tyson Corners, Virginia, and is said to have remained with its original owner up until 2006. An evolution of Porsche's original 924 transaxle sports car, the 944 was introduced in Europe for the 1982 model year featuring improved suspension, brakes, and a new inline four-cylinder engine. This 1983 example was among the first available in the United States and has been kept in a climate-controlled garage by the current owner since 2006 while proudly shown at various PCA Concours events over the years including many first-place awards. A beautifully presented early Porsche 944, this 1983 model is now being offered for auction by its longtime caretaker out of Maryland showing just under 22k miles on the odometer.
This 944 comes finished in traditional Guards Red paint and features distinctive pop-up headlights, integrated front fog lights, and a black polyurethane spoiler surrounding the glass rear hatch. A rear window wiper is equipped along with factory 15” ATS Cookie Cutter wheels dressed in Yokohama tires from 2004. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior features bolstered seats with brown vinyl backing and beige cloth inserts along with matching brown carpets and door panels. Factory equipment includes a removable sunroof panel with a manual tilt feature, power windows, air conditioning, a Blaupunkt CR-2010 AM/FM/cassette stereo, power windows, power-adjustable and mirrors, a cassette and coin holder, and an alarm system. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional including the original R12 A/C system which is recommended to be recharged or updated by the next owner.
A naturally aspirated 2.5L inline-four engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle delivering up to 150 HP and 142 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels. Standard features include four-wheel independent suspension, power-assisted rack and pinion steering, and power-assisted ventilated disc brakes. The timing belt and water pump are said to have been replaced within the last 3k miles and were recently inspected. The seller notes all fluids have been carefully maintained over the years including a recent oil and brake fluid change.
This sale will include a collection of records, the original window sticker, original temp tags, a toolkit, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title.

Absolutely amazing time capsule. Bringing back incredible memories those many years ago, I was bombing around Vancouver in my red Prelude and I would have lost my mind having this in the driveway 39 years ago. Just loving everything about this Pcar, even love the “upgraded” Blaupunkt, exactly what I would have done back in the day! Likely would have popped in a Styx or Bryan Ferry cassette, headed to Whistler. GLWTA!
