This 1983 Porsche 944 marks the launch year of Porsche’s iconic transaxle sports car in North America and comes finished in Sienna Red Metallic over a Cadbury Brown and beige leatherette interior. It comes equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, unassisted rack and pinion steering, a sunroof, and 15” Fuchs alloy wheels. The car is said to have been originally delivered in Canada and was under the ownership of a Porsche enthusiast and mechanic in Florida from whom it was acquired by the seller about 8 years ago. This early 944 is now being offered for auction by its owner out of North Carolina.
The Sienna Red Metallic paint color is exclusive to the 944 and was offered during the 1983 model year only. Equipment includes popup headlights, body-color side moldings, a removable sunroof panel, a polished exhaust tip, a heated rear hatch window, and a black polyurethane rear spoiler. The car rides on factory 15” Fuchs alloy wheels dressed in Ohtsu FP6000 tires. The car is said to have been completely refinished in its original color 6 years ago and the seller notes one small scratch on the front bumper above the license plate as well as a ding on the right side of the hood near the windshield washer nozzle. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in beige and Cadbury Brown leatherette upholstery and includes a matching carpet dashboard cover, custom Lloyds floor mats, and an aftermarket Dino three-spoke steering wheel. Factory equipment includes a rear window wiper, power windows and mirrors, a locking glovebox, and a sound system currently paired with a vintage Alpine radio. The seller is unsure that the clock keeps proper time and reports that the driver’s seatbelt return spring needs to be replaced. The A/C system is also recommended to be serviced and recharged by the next owner.
A naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-four engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle delivering up to 150 HP and 142 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels. Standard features include four-wheel independent suspension and power-assisted disc brakes. This 944 was ordered without power steering by its original owner to maximize performance and driving feel. The seller states the car was meticulously maintained by its last owner who was also a private race car mechanic and has been serviced exclusively with Motul oils and lubricants. The clutch master and slave cylinders are said to have been replaced within the last 6 years along with a new front windshield wiper motor and repair to the HVAC blower fan. The seller reports a timing belt replacement is due.
This sale will include a clean title and a spare tire.
The seller would like you to know: “This car has been enthusiast owned and kept as OEM as possible with a beautiful repaint done about 6 years ago replacing all the body seals along the way. This car has been a treat to own and enjoy over the last 8 years.”

@astrother sorry, the dash mat may not be Lloyds… do not recall the manufacturer.
@DonM no problems with the rear glass seal. This car had a third brake light when I got it and I appreciate the extra visibility in today’s SUV and pickup truck world. If the buyer would like, I have an entire extra hatch and glass that comes with the car at no additional cost, if they take it away.
@bobsright Those were Lloyds mats, ordered a couple year back and match the colors nicely.
Seller, do you know what brand of dash mat that is?
Good looking car. Any problems with the rear glass seal to the frame? Also, odd to see a 3rd brake light on an ‘83. Was that added or was the window replaced?
