Offered as the top of Porsche's 928 model line, the “S” version debuted in 1980 featuring a more powerful 4.7-liter V8 engine, improved brakes, forged-aluminum wheels, aerodynamic spoilers, and more luxurious driver amenities. This 1983 example features a rare Kiln Red Metallic finish, protective side moldings, a sunroof, a 4-speed automatic transmission, and more. Initially delivered in Oregon, this 928 has since made its way to California where it is now being offered for auction while showing approximately 71k miles on the odometer.
This example comes finished in Kiln Red Metallic, an extra-cost color option offered between 1983 and 1984. The bodywork highlights pop-up headlights with washers, integrated fog lights, a rear window wiper, S-specific front and rear spoilers, and optional protective side moldings. Factory 16” flat-disc wheels are dressed in Hankook Ventus V2 Concept2 tires from 2022. The seller notes minor paint imperfections, additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Grey Beige leather seats are contrasted by two-tone door panels and a dark brown dashboard. Features include power windows, door locks, and mirrors as well as a power-adjustable driver seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, cruise control, a cassette stereo, and 928-branded door sills and floor mats. Optional equipment includes a rear leather storage box, an electric sliding roof, and a power-adjustable passenger seat. The seller notes some signs of age throughout the cabin.
Beneath the bonnet lies a 4.7-liter V8 engine distributing up to 234 HP and 263 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission. Standard performance equipment includes a Weissach rear axle, front and rear stabilizer bars, and 4-wheel vented disc brakes. The seller states that this example has been routinely maintained including oil changes, tune-ups, and repairs, and a belt service was carried out in 2015.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, and some service documentation.
The seller would like you to know: “This very nice 928S came to us from an owner up in OR. The unusual exterior of Kiln Red is one we haven’t seen before, and it complements the lines of the car quite well. It has been well maintained over the years. And a file of extensive service docs and records, including the belt service is included, as well as the owner's manual and original window sticker. It’s a great runner and a lot of fun to drive, so put on those Ray-Bans, pop in a Bob Seger tape, and let’s cruise! And watch out for the U-Boats!”

@eurocol Hi. If you look below the most current bid, you will see a comment from Oregon Motor Company. It explains some of the cars past history. Jeff/Corvette Mike
Lovely car.
2 questions re: the Carfax,
Where was the car prior to 2002? That's almost 20 years unaccounted for,
can you explain the mileage discrepancy?
many thanks....

This is our old car…we sold it to Mike. We bought it early last year from the estate of the owner who bought it nearly new in 1984. The mileage is actual and correct. The owner was the well respected proprietor of Harvey’s Marine Service. We spent nearly $6000 while it was in our possession including complete all-new rear brakes, new hydraulic lines, service of the HVAC system, new air filter, and new tires. After we completed it, we took on 80-90mph, 1500 mile tour of Eastern Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Washington. The car preformed flawlessly and kept itself (and us) cool at the height of summer as we flew over the dramatic mountain passes. This is an outstanding original 928S in a rare color and deserves a strong result.
@1991928gt Hi. Yes, the gauges all work. I believe the gauge lights are also working, but I will have to check them on Monday to confirm that. Jeff/Corvette Mike.
do all the gauges and the instrument cluster dashboard light work?

@dicksanderson Hi. Yes, the a-c is working properly. Jeff/Corvette Mike
Car looks nice. Does the A/C function properly. Thanks for responding.
@Vburriss Hi. It's possible that it could have been listed on Hemmings before we owned it, but I don't know for sure if it's the same car. Jeff/Corvette Mike.
Is this the same car that was listed in Hemmings about this time last year? Thank you.
