Porsche reintroduced the Super Carrera (SC) moniker on an evolution of the G-body 911 for the 1978 model year. Initially available as both a coupe and a Targa, the SC boasted a larger engine with an aluminum crankcase and several design enhancements. Marking the 911SC's final year, this 1983 example is presented in Black with a reupholstered red leather interior and features a removable Targa top, fog lights, a Turbo-style rear spoiler, Fuchs alloy wheels, air conditioning, and more. Showing just over 101k miles on the odometer, this SC is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
The exterior has been repainted in Black and the original Fuchs wheels were refinished about 2 years ago. The Targa top was also replaced during the same period, and the seller emphasizes the absence of leaks. Other equipment includes front fog lights, a "PORSCHE" logo tail panel reflector, a black Targa roll hoop, and a Turbo-style “tea tray” rear spoiler. Detailed images are available in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin received new red leather upholstery for the seats and door panels in the summer of 2023. It is equipped with power windows and mirrors, cruise control, air conditioning, a three-spoke steering wheel, a quartz clock, a locking glovebox, and an aftermarket Sony stereo. All gauges and accessories are reported to be in proper working order.
Rated at 180 HP, an air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller highlights a comprehensive overhaul of electronics and fuel system components. Notably, the computer box, fuel pump, and fuel filter have been replaced and a complete ignition tune-up has been performed. The seller adds that regular oil changes and routine maintenance have been carried out consistently.
This sale will include a clean title.

@targatues - good luck! Seems like a great price for a nice black SC. These cars are going up quite well. Some restoration and TLC and this is $50k car.

@10135 I can’t say for sure, but it does not seem like there’s a problem, I don’t hear any leaks, and it sounds good

@mudchicken It seems a little sticky, and a minor adjustment should get it right

This cad looks fairly good for it's age. I have a 1981 SC wide body. Hers' my observations. The passenger engine hinge is kind of rusted out. usually double struts are on these hinges to help with the extra tail weight during lifting. It appears to have no heat blower piping. Undercarriage is not shown in this listing so I'm assuming the heat exchangers are gone. The AC looks unused and possibly frozen. Heat and AC are easily a $5k fix to get things properly sorted. However, my '81 SC also has no heat or AC and is a summer fun car only. It's bidding very cheap IMO and this car seems worthy of buying in this price range. I'd buy it but I just don't have the room.
Does the hood not close evenly?
Bid in the amount of $8,250
@PCARMARKET understood, and thank you for the reply. I was just hoping to confirm wether this was a legitimate listing or not.
@ReverMotors now that the pictures of the undercarriage are uploaded can you advise of the status of the exhuast system? Looks like it's missing some parts. Thanks.
@PCARMARKET yes, but I can confirm the pictures that you uploaded of the undercarriage are the same pictures from that website. Thank you for uploading the pictures.
Underside photos have been added to the listing page.
@10135 photos of the underside are being added
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT WHEN GOOGLING VIN NUMBERS BADVIN COMES UP ON MOST VEHICLES AND SHOWS PICS OF DIFFERENT CARS. This can be very deceptive.
@dversdzn the platform is not used to direct traffic to dealer websites. The car is offered here for auction contractually by the seller and you would have to bid to purchase the vehicle. Thank you.
@10135 The summer of 2023 is recent! This is actually a funny dialogue.
I have given all the photos to PCM, including underneath, please reach out to them as I’m not gonna be able to do that before the end of the auction
@ReverMotors perfect thanks.
Hello seller, the listing states this is being offered by a dealer. Can you provide the name and location of the dealership?
Thanks.
@ReverMotors Yes, from the pictures I found, there are scrathes on the left rear fender. Also the exhuast system was missing parts. You could have definitely fixed that by now, but the details say that the red interior was put in in the summer of 2023, and those pictures definitely had the red interior which means it was recent. But what's even more concerning is that the website is taken down now. If you guys google the VIN, you'll see a thumbnail pic of the car parked on grass with the red seats. That was the website that had the pics of the undercarriage. @ReverMotors if you're being full, frank and fair, you should post a video of the car with the undercarriage to assure everyone that there are no issues.
I’m not trying to push your car down at all but feel that remarks made by 10135 aren’t correct!! I’m bidding and he’s just remarking!
@Bruce914 No rust, the car is clean underneath
Bid in the amount of $8,000
@JulesJules The air filter is absolutely available and with the car, we were doing adjustments, and I forgot to put it back on before photos
@Hiprides04 I do not know what badvin is, but the title matches the car
@aic225 It has both but the AC compressor is not connected. I would not advise anyone to use AC on an antique air cooled car in warm weather.
@10135 I’m sorry, but I don’t understand the end of carriage looks great. I personally have cleaned every inch of it. No accidents can be found or any significant damage. There are some minor scratches on the back left fender that are barely noticeable.
I was very interested in this car, but now feel compelled to share info, google the vin, you’ll come across pictures of the undercarriage. Looks like parts are missing and the frame looks shifted. Also, scratches on the car.
From the pictures it seems to not have Heat or A/C...Is that correct?
Is it possible to have a starting video and a driving video as well?
The air filter seems to be missing? Can you confirm it's there and in use?
Any shots of the bottom of the car available?
Many thanks!
