Produced for one year only, the 1983 Porsche 911SC Cabriolet represents the first Porsche 911 with a fully open-top convertible design. This Guards Red example was cared for by two prior owners and was purchased by the seller’s client over 20 years ago. It features a factory Tea Tray rear spoiler, a new convertible top, upgraded Sport Seats, a short shift kit, and 16” BBS wheels. Accompanied by some service records dating back as far as 1987, this 911SC Cabriolet is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio while showing approximately 35k miles on the odometer.
This 911SC is finished in Guards Red with a new black convertible top and features factory optional Turbo-style spoilers at the front and rear. It rides on aftermarket 16” BBS wheels with gold painted centers, polished outer lips, and Michelin Pilot Exalto tires from 2022. The seller notes some areas of the car have been refinished and two small paint bubbles are present just below the rear spoiler. Some road rash is also noted on the front bumper and hood as well as chips on the inner fenders. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black interior has been fitted with a pair of upgraded Sport Seats and a short shift kit along with aftermarket speakers and an amplifier for the sound system. Equipment includes power windows, air conditioning, and heated power side mirrors. The seller notes some signs of wear on the dashboard and the Sport Seats have been professionally reupholstered in vinyl.
An air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 180 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller indicates maintenance records are available dating back to 1987 including a major service performed in 1989.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and some service records.
The seller would like you to know: “We have specialized in air-cooled vintage Porsche for nearly 30 years. Normally, this would be a project we would take on and rebuild from the ground up. Unfortunately, our seasoned & skilled Porsche technician has had some recent health conditions arise and some of our projects have been delayed or put aside. This vehicle was owned since new locally here in central Ohio with 2 documented owners. It has had paintwork but it’s to a reasonably high standard. The hues match on all panels. As expressed, this is not a museum collector car but has true low mileage. 15-inch Fuchs available after the auction end at additional cost. This is a rare spoiler-equipped SC Cab that you can buy, drive & enjoy. Sports Seats have been professionally recovered in nice vinyl. This is a great driver!”

A new piece of information for this car just came across my desk from the previous owner. please see attached Photo in the gallery. The BBS Wheels, Nackamichi sound system and other items appear to have been dealer installed.
@Unsavedone Electronics and gauges all function properly. As previously stated we do not have service records of any engine our repairs, headstuds, clutch etc. We can only assume that they have not been done.
Do all of the electronics and gauges function properly? I also didn't see an answer about the head studs and clutch condition that was below.
Bid in the amount of $20,000

@MichianaWill I cant say if the oil cooler is leaking from the line or the cooler itself. It would need to be degreased and monitored. The speaker system would need to be removed by taking the door cards off the car to verify which we will not have time to do. Replacement door cards could be purchased for a reasonable cost.
Couple questions:
1. Is the oil leak coming from the cooler itself or the hoses?
2. Did they cut rectangular holes in the door cards for the speakers or are they round? They’re cool period speakers, but a bit oversized
3. Any driving videos yet?
Thanks!

@AutoAssetsPPA awesome, great looking driver!
@ruf_kühlt no rust repairs needed. floor boards, frunk and the rest of the body are all in really good shape.
Any rust repairs needed?
@IslaTurbine Thank you! meaning that if we had the time to spend on the car, we would probably do engine out reseal/head bolts (as we do not have service history of it being performed) The oil cooler has a bit of a leak (picture 227). There is some wear and sun fading on the dashboard, carpets could benefit from being replaced & the original seats had some wear and tear, which we fortunately had a set of Sport Seats from another 930 to swap in for the sale. It’s not concourse condition, but the car shows & runs exceptionally well. I will have a cold start video done today and a driving video to follow shortly after.

Can you share what is meant by this quote:
“Normally, this would be a project we would take on and rebuild from the ground up.” What part(s) of this car would be considered a project?
