Up for auction is this 1983 Porsche 911SC Coupe finished in Slate Blue Metallic over a black interior. Denoting the final year of production for the 911SC model, this 1983 example features a newly rebuilt flat-six engine that has been upgraded with Carrera chain tensioners, a stainless-steel sport muffler, and an upgraded oil cooler. With just over 95k miles shown on the odometer and approximately 300 miles driven on the rebuilt engine, this SC is now being offered by its seller in Pennsylvania accompanied by service records, original books and tools, spare parts, and a clean title.
This 911SC is said to have been completely refinished in single-stage Slate Blue Metallic paint under previous ownership. The paint is noted to be in good overall condition except for some minor imperfections most notably on the right rear fender, front hood, driver’s side doorjamb, and near the sunroof (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). Some exterior details include polished stainless steel exhaust tips, a front spoiler, and fog lights. Additional air scoops have been integrated into the front bumper for the upgraded oil cooler and the factory Fuchs wheels have been polished and dressed in new Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires.
Inside, the black interior is said to be in good shape, although a crack can be seen on the dashboard as well as a small tear in the headliner toward the right rear corner. The sunroof was fully serviced under the current ownership and fitted with new upholstery. The turn signal and high beam switches have been replaced and 4-way Kenwood speakers have been installed along with an aftermarket radio which is currently disconnected. A MOMO steering wheel has been equipped and the door pockets have been removed. The A/C is nonfunctional; however, all other gauges and accessories are said to be working properly including the factory power-operated seats. A brand-new cabin headliner will also be included in the sale along with the door pockets.
The air-cooled 3.0 L flat-six engine in this SC is capable of sending 180 HP stock to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. A Carrera chain tensioner upgrade has been installed in addition to an airbox pop-off valve, an upgraded Mocal oil cooler, and a dual-exit stainless steel sport muffler with a cat-bypass. A full engine rebuild was recently carried out by Porsche specialist George Johnson which included the following items:
Some other noteworthy service items carried out during the current ownership include:
The oil level sender requires replacement, however, this 911SC is said to be in fantastic running order with approximately 300 miles driven on the rebuilt engine.
Accompanying this is sale is a set of 4 keys, a clean title, a spare headliner, door pockets, and the original books, tools, jack, and spare tire. For any enthusiast in search of an air-cooled 911 Coupe, this final-year SC is not to be overlooked.

@ypman Do I do not. It was two owners ago. From the Carfax it looks like it was minor vandalism. In fact it does not show up on Autocheck. The car is straight. When I replaced the front suspension components listed in the details, I saw no evidence of damage not did I have any problems. In fact It tracked very well when I got it all back together. I had aligned anyway just to be sure.
Do you have any details as to the extent of damage reported back in 2003?

@Wuliangye . I would have to check which him but warranties are typically not transferable.

George sounds like a very capable engine builder. With only 300 miles on the build you just started the break-in process. Would George guarantee this re-build to the next owner?
Bid in the amount of $21,000
Thanks!
@Fresnofile The previous owner had a huge Audiosub installed In the frunk and I had to remove it to get to the smugglers box to replace the steering shaft bushing. All the wiring is in place so it probably just needs to be reconnected. If you want the sub I can throw that in with the deal. It is a pioneer 400 watt 4 channnel sub.
Any idea what it would take to fix the radio?

Two videos have been posted. The first one is a warm start and the second one is a stone cold start.
@0ldFatguy Those are small pimples in the paint.
Regarding the last two pictures of the paint... are those water droplets or paint imperfections?
@mragan01 The small paint run above the passenger door handle did not show up on the pictures i tried to take. You can feel it with your fingers though.
@sjandras I just took a few pictures showing the small pimples/bumps and will request PARMARKET to post them. They are so small they are hard to see with out the proper lighting and angle. Hopefully these will answer your questions. There is no evidence of rust repair any where on the body. The repaint was done 2 owners ago so I do not know of the windows were removed. But I can not see any evidence that they were not removed. I will also post one more picture of very small paint run above the passenger door handle.
Can you please provide detail pictures of the noted paint issues? I can see a bunch of what look like blemishes in pictures (may be dirt or picture quality?), but not the specific ones called out in the description (fender and near sunroof). Was trim and glass removed for the repaint? Is there any evidence of rust or rust repair?
Short Bio for George Johnson
George started his shop in 1969, the largest independent VW-Porsche shop in the greater Harrisburg area. Rebuilt all Porsche engines for the authorized dealer and other independent shops. Built engines for people in 32 states. In total has rebuilt over 1,000 engines. Also as a commercial pilot, he flew one of the first Porsche powered aircraft!
@0ldFatguy I submitted cold start and warm start videos to PCARMARKET. You will see the car started right up. They said the videos should be posted soon. I have detail receipts for the engine rebuild by George Johnson in Harrisburg. I will post a short bio of George’s Porsche engine building expertise in another comment tomorrow.
Are there receipts for the work done and a video of it running available?
Welcome to the auction for my 1983 911SC
