Available for auction is this 1983 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Recaro Edition finished in black over a tan leather interior. Launched for the 1982 model year, the third generation Firebird introduced many firsts to the model including fuel injection, a glass rear hatch, a 5-speed manual transmission, and more. This one-family-owned 1983 example was originally purchased in Orange County, California where it reportedly spent its life before moving to Nevada upon the original owner's retirement. This nicely equipped Trans Am is believed to be 1 of approximately 1,600 Recaro Editions to have been produced and features a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a rare 5-speed transmission along with T-tops, cruise control, air conditioning, power accessories, and more. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Arizona while showing approximately 97k miles on the odometer.
The third-generation Firebird features a steeply raked windshield, flush-mounted side glass, a glass hatchback, pop-up headlights, and a rounded nose. This example is finished in black with gold lower body panels and graphics. The seller describes the car to be very well preserved and was always garage-kept by its original owner. Details include a hood scoop, removable glass T-tops, a rear deck spoiler, special “Recaro T/A” badging, and gold-finished “turbo-finned” 15″ aluminum wheels dressed in BF Goodrich tires. Detailed images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
This Recaro Edition features a pair of Recaro bucket seats trimmed in tan leather with matching carpeting, door panels, and headliner. The cabin is said to remain very well presented apart from a small crack in the dashboard speaker grille as is common on models of this era. Amenities include power windows and door locks, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, cruise control, air conditioning, and a cassette stereo. The seller confirms that all gauges and accessories remain functional.
Power comes from an LG4 5.0-liter V8 engine driving the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The LG4 and WS6 performance packages were standard on the Recaro Edition Trans Am, and 1983 was the first year of the 5-speed manual transmission. The WS6 Package included 4-wheel disc brakes, stiffer springs, thicker sway bars, a quick-ratio steering box, and a limited-slip rear differential. Recent service includes a tune-up, oil and filter change, and coolant flush. The seller states the transmission, clutch, and flywheel were also previously serviced and all work is documented totaling over $8k invested in the past 4 years.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, toolkit, and a clean title.

These are so rare! I had an ‘85 in high school not nearly as clean as this. The engine is under rated and is a blast to drive for the $$. I hope the seller put a GOOD reserve in place. Would hate to see it go on the cheap. I’ve missed mine since the day I sold it. GLWA
