Commemorating the 10th anniversary of the opening of Porsche’s legendary Weissach research and development facility, the Weissach option package was offered on the 1982 Porsche 928 at a cost of $5,940. It included Light Bronze Metallic paint, a Brown Special Leather interior, gold-anodized alloy wheels, spoilers from the 928 S model, and a matching luggage set. This example is the 211th Weissach Edition produced and was sold new by Porsche-Audi of Manhattan. The car remained in the original owner’s family since delivery and was registered by the owner’s son in Idaho from 2016 until 2024. Showing approximately 145k miles on the odometer, this rare one-family-owned 928 Weissach is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey accompanied by a matching luggage set and an original dealer’s letter.
The 928 Weissach was finished exclusively in Light Bronze Metallic paint and included the front and rear spoilers of the 928 S model. It rides on special gold-anodized 16” flat-disc alloy wheels and comes with fog lights, headlamp washers, an electric sunroof, a rear window wiper, an automatic antenna, and a dual-tipped exhaust outlet. The seller indicates road-going wear on the exterior commensurate with the car’s mileage and notes that it has never been driven during the winter in the Northeast. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features Brown Special Leather upholstery with tan carpeting and dark brown 928-branded floor mats. The center dashboard is adorned with a Porsche crest engraved with a 928 Weissach designation and the car’s limited edition production number. Accessories include a four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, power windows and mirrors, automatic climate control, a VDO quartz clock, and an aftermarket Kenwood stereo. Some signs of wear are noted in the interior and the seller recommends the passenger door lock cylinder be replaced.
Rated at 231 HP and 265 lb.-ft of torque, the aluminum block 4.5-liter M28/15 V8 engine drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes that upgraded electric cooling fans have been installed and routine service has been carried out based on the recommended service intervals.
This sale will include a matching luggage set, a Weissach Edition dealer’s letter, owner’s manuals, a spare tire, a car cover, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This car has had one owner and has remained in the family from day one, it spent some of its life in Idaho with the original owner’s son and has never been on a harsh northeast winter road”

Neat car, @SteveSilvertree - was given a spirited drive in the twin to this car when they were new and I was a teenager. Perhaps we can come to an agreeable price...

@msobilo wish I had the answers but the owner hasn’t been around lately and I’m on vacation from work
@oldsouth it’s been parked waiting for a buyer but started and runs I drove it to the roof of the garage for the pics a week ago
Bid in the amount of $4,000
I am digging a lot about this car. Wish we knew more about the car as far as maintenance. I understand you are selling for your friend or boss, and that creates issues you may not know but are important.
With leaves and spider webs here and there, I would guess it hasn't been driven much lately.
Bid in the amount of $3,500
Questions for the seller:
Does the odometer work? A zeroed out odometer can be a sign of in inoperative odometer, which is not all that uncommon on this era Porsche. If it does work, you might want to consider driving the car around the block and posting a photo of the new odometer reading.
Does the car start, run, drive and shift through all gears? If so, please consider posting a video showing that......it will greatly increase bidder confidence and likely result in actual bids.
@msobilo as I wrote in a prior post it’s my bosses car they haven’t given me at service records to share yet
Still no records? When was the engine last worked on? What was done?
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
@ALZR32 I only have an original pic of the luggage but my understanding is that it was never used or removed from the plastic covering
Is there a picture of the luggage?
@b.flippo luggage is included as per the description
I'm guessing the matching luggage is long gone?
There are 201 cars that carry the Weissach option code, and there's no real correlation between the plaque number and either the VIN or the production number. Weissach production was spread over the middle of the '82 production year, between production numbers 2600 and 3250. By production # this car (#1223078) is the 161st Weissach, by VIN it's #159. The plaque was arbitrarily assigned to the car, probably at the dealership.
@Collexxxter it’s my bosses car. Let me see what I can dig up.
@Colnago1331 the dealers didn’t always number the certificates in sequential order, I encourage you to go onto a 928 registry site feel free to run the Vin number and it’ll give you all of the details about when this car was built and when it came off the production line
How can this be the 211th version of a car they only made 205 of?
@SteveSilvertree - service logs or records please? As many has you have.
