This 1982 Porsche 911SC Targa has undergone comprehensive restoration, including a refinish in Black over a matching reupholstered interior. Originally a California car, it was later acquired from a private collector on the Island of Saint Croix before being shipped back to the mainland approximately six years ago. Sold on PCARMARKET in 2022, it has since received over $18k in servicing, including an engine rebuild by Import Autohaus of New York, a new clutch, a rebuilt suspension, new brakes, and more. This Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Connecticut with less than 180k miles showing on the odometer.

This Targa was reportedly refinished in Black upon returning to the U.S. approximately six years ago. Custom RS-style front and rear bumpers were added, along with modern Flat 6 Illumination projector headlights and blue powder-coated brake calipers. It rides on 16” Fuchs wheels finished in black and wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tires from 2021. A few minor blemishes are noted, and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin has been reupholstered in black vinyl with contrasting white stitching and fitted with new carpets. A replacement dashboard was previously installed, along with a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, new control knobs, signal switches, seatbelts, heater levers, and A/C components. While no radio or sound system is present, all other gauges and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine, delivering up to 180 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox. As part of approximately $18k in servicing under the most recent ownership, the engine was reportedly rebuilt by Import Autohaus of Huntington, New York, approximately 1k miles ago. The following components were also replaced or restored:

  • New clutch
  • New lightweight door panels
  • New idle control valve
  • New front brakes, including pads, rotors, and brake booster
  • New fuel tank
  • Restored Fuchs wheels finished in black
  • A/C converted to R134 with a new receiver dryer
  • New wheel bearings
  • New heater fan
  • New Elephant Racing front strut brace
  • New window seal
  • New Targa seals
  • New engine mounts
  • Restored fuel distributor
  • New door seals

This 911 is offered with a registration, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, and a spare tire.

The seller would like you to know:The car on offer here is an excellent 1982 Porsche 911SC Targa. It has been Mechanically and cosmetically restored, is fully sorted, and needs nothing. As can be seen, an opened wallet was employed in the restoration of this car. More than $18,000 was spent in the last 2 years on mechanicals alone and we have receipts!!! At some point, the car received a repaint in its original color; it shows well with deep shine and luster. The restored interior is excellent as well. The leather seats have been recovered and look great with white topstitching. The lightweight door panels are new, and the carpets are fresh. Additionally, the gauges have been restored, and the dash is excellent. The car has been fully sorted mechanically, the engine being rebuilt by marque specialist Import Autohous. The clutch is new. The suspension has been rebuilt as well as the brakes. The car runs and drives beautifully and needs nothing. The engine has good power and torque; the clutch engages with authority. Buy with confidence as all this 911 needs is an enthusiastic driver/owner.”

Today is the final day of the auction!!!

Thank you all so much for the bids, comments and the many direct contacts too.

A few thoughts as we head towards the close:
    * I will be here monitoring for the rest of the auction. So please feel free to ask questions and share the experience too.
    * Additionally, I would be happy to assist with your logistics including shipping.
    * A big reminder (especially if you are a Pcar novice) :if you really want the car, please be mindful of the Pcar clock; reset your browser every time you open this auction. Failing to do so could mean your computer is not aligned with the official auction timer, and you could miss the car. Ultimately, there is no benefit to last minute or last second bidding on Pcar, as the clock resets with each bid placed in each consecutive last 2 minutes. So why risk missing her?

I will be here for any questions. Good luck with the auction!

@Wuliangye Thanks for your comment. your question can best be answered by "life got in the way". the owner had to spend most of his time over the past 2 years in Europe for work reasons and was not back in the US much at all - that situation has continued which is why he’s selling.

This car sold Jan. 10,2022 The owner seemed very excited to own his first Porsche. Over 3 years and less than 1,500 miles were put on the car! Based on the last listing seems like everything is the same. So I wonder why the limited milage. Please help me understand. Looking at this vehicle for a donor Outlaw build.

@porschebf thanks for your interest in the car. I have spoken to the owner. the car was painted 2 owners ago; it appears to be a base coat clear coat, but I dont have the painter or the paint brand. having said that, the paint looks excellent, with deep shine and good luster.
