Founded by Ekkehard Zimmermann in 1973, Design+Plastic or DP Motorsports gained recognition for co-developing race cars with the Kremer Brothers including the legendary Porsche 935 “K3” that was driven to victory by Klaus Ludwig and the Whittington Brothers at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979. Drawing from its racing experience, DP Motorsport later offered 935 conversions for road-going Porsche 911 models. This European-market 1982 Porsche 911 Turbo was sent to DP Motorsport for a 935 I conversion which was completed in 1984 along with a newly assigned DP chassis number. It features a full 935-style bodykit as well as a modified 3.3-liter turbocharged engine with adjustable boost control and a re-geared 4-speed manual transmission. It was eventually imported from Germany to Miami and was sold to a customer in Canada who owned the car up until April 2023. It was acquired by the seller in June 2023 and has since been treated to about $20k in service. Among only a handful of authentic DP 935 road cars in the United States, this rare 930 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

The DP Motorsport 935 I bodykit includes louvered slant nose front fenders, a 930S-style front bumper with covered headlamps, vented fender flares, extended rocker panels, 935 racing mirrors, and a large rear wing. The car was refinished in the current black paint from its original burgundy color and decorated with DP Motorsport graphics on the hood, rockers, and decklid. Red-painted brake calipers are set behind aftermarket 17” Fikse three-piece wheels finished in gloss black with Goodyear Eagle tires from 2015. The seller notes some small paint chips are present on the hood, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with black carpeting and beige leather upholstery covering the seats and door panels. Accessories include a custom center console with a digital AEM air/fuel ratio gauge, a leather MOMO shift knob, a three-spoke Dino steering wheel, DP-branded floor mats, and a manual boost controller mounted between the seats. An aftermarket Alpine head unit has also been installed along with additional Blaupunkt speakers in the doors and rear shelf. The seller notes some signs of age-related wear are present and all gauges and accessories remain fully functional.

The turbocharged and intercooled 3.3-liter flat-six engine was reportedly modified by DP Motorsport and sends power to the rear wheels through a re-geared 4-speed manual transaxle. The seller notes a top-end engine rebuild was performed prior to their acquisition and they have since performed a major mechanical service including replacement of the clutch, A/C, a rebuilt wastegate, and small oil leak repairs. Additionally, the seller states that the mileage currently shown on the odometer appears to be consistent with the car's service records.

This sale will include service records, import and export documentation, an authentication email from DP Motorsport, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Delivered in 1982 by Porsche and taken to DP for conversion. Exited with a 1984 DP VIN and that was the first year the car was registered. The car was originally Burgundy in color, according to DP's records. It was shipped to and sold in the US in Miami. In 1993, it was sold to a customer in Ontario Canada, where it stayed until April 2023.  There are many service records as well and import and export documentation and verification of the car from DP. The is also a full appraisal from 2018 valuing the car at $350,000 (using the conversion rate in 2018). The car is titled using the original Porsche VIN. It was imported to Canada with the DP vin, both VINs are on the car. We bought the car in June 2023 and spent about $20,000 servicing it and bringing it to saleable condition.”
