Up for auction is this 1982 Porsche 911SC Targa finished in Black. Originally a California car, this 1982 example was eventually acquired from a private collector on the Island of Saint Croix and shipped back to the mainland about three years ago. Having since been completely refinished, outfitted with a new black vinyl interior, and treated to a full engine rebuild with invoices totaling over $20k, this 911SC Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
This Targa is said to have been completely refinished in Black when it was brought to the U.S. mainland about three years ago, as the original paint faded from sun exposure over the years. Custom RS-style front and rear bumpers were added along with modern Flat 6 Illumination projector headlights and blue-powder coated brake calipers. Some small blemishes are noted throughout the exterior, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report. The 16” Fuchs wheels have been powder coated in black and dressed in a set of Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tires.
The cabin has been reupholstered in black vinyl with contrasting light blue stitching. A new dashboard has been fitted along with a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, new control knobs, signal switches, seatbelts, heater levers, and A/C components. There is no radio or sound system, although all other gauges and accessories are said to be working properly.
The air-cooled 3.0L flat-six engine drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox and is rated at 180 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt by Potzinger Reworks in May of 2020 along with the installation of a new clutch and pressure plate, rebuilt pedal assembly, brake master cylinder, and new brake calipers, rotors, and pads. Corresponding invoices are provided in the gallery and the seller reports the rebuilt engine is still in its break-in period with less than 50 miles driven since the rebuild.
This sale will include records, documentation, and a clean title. Nicely sorted and tastefully modified for its next owner, this 911SC Targa is just waiting to be enjoyed.

Thank you
Bid in the amount of $34,000
Sorry, not 26 , picture 36 that looks like a spider .
What is picture 26 ? It's so close I can't tell what it's trying to point out?
Bid in the amount of $31,250
****UPDATE***
The ENGINE has a 11 months warranty from the shop included a 500 miles oil change and valves adjustment.
UPDATE ****
@El_Chingon I will definitely double check with the shop …
I’m not an expert mechanic .
I know for sure that the engine received an entire set of upgraded engine studs (the expensive ones)
MAHLE pistons and cylinders with the special cross cross honing inside …
Rebuilt heads with new rockers etc…
Lots of hours hours and hours of labor were put in on that part
POTZINGER rewerks is the shop to go to for a rebuilt
And Porsche restauration… they are really nice guys super knowledgeable, patient ! They listen to your needs and have tons of valuable suggestions and can fix anything.and enhance .
Check out their instagram
@mm911 the Carrera chain tensioner update is clearly visible in the engine photos.
Bid in the amount of $31,000
@mm911 Stock set up
Did the engine rebuild include the later Carrera chain tensioner upgrade kit?
@mm911 Hello
Thr warranty is absolutely in effect starting jan 2022 for a year .
And it has a 500 miles valve adjustment and oil change
The warranty is available with the purchase of the vehicle.
It’s definitely a great reassurance in purchasing the car
Thank you
Is the Podzinger engine rebuild warranty still in effect? And if in effect, what are the terms?
@z_fisher Pictures added
@z_fisher Hi yes I sent one to Dominick at Pcarmarket let me follow up with him now
@Samuel718 Did you post a better pic showing the front hood/bumper alignment ?
Thanks !
Bid in the amount of $29,500
Bid in the amount of $25,250
@Samuel718 Thanks! If it was registered in California in the past, it will pass smog again. unless the smog components were removed during the rebuild!
@Nickeysf hello Nick
The car has all the stock components from the factory except for the muffler it is nicer and lighter .
The fuel injection system is working perfect and putting premium gas so far , plugs of course are new .
You d have to look into similar stock 911 imported from out of state .
Thank you
Does the car still have all the smog components? Will it still be able to pass California smog?
Bid in the amount of $25,000
@OneTimeAround Hello
We are going to post a close shot of the front
But we specifically did not want to big oversized smile rubber seal
It’s a personal choice
And once again the factory hood seal we installed is adequate with the bumper
Please refer to the link below for photos

Thank you
@OneTimeAround Hello
Will do
@Samuel718 perhaps you could take quick photo looking down the front edge of the hood and clear up any confusion as to the fittment of the bumper/hood.
Bid in the amount of $17,750
Is that a huge gap where the hood meets the front bumper or a shadow? Seems like it’s there on all the images and out of place on this car
@SZ504 @Simonzar
Hello simon we are going to inquire about getting a written warranty before the end of the auction
Cheers
Bid in the amount of $17,500
Bid in the amount of $17,000
Bid in the amount of $15,750
@Samuel718 I would like to see the warranty prior to the sale. There is only 50 miles on this re-built motor since May 2020. In case the oil filter is loaded with metal fines it’s not the new owner’s responsibility. You paid premium pricing and the warranty should be part of the sale presentation.
Bid in the amount of $15,500
@porschebf Thank you P.
I was advised to keep the car under 3000 RPM during the first 100 miles right now we have just hit 55 miles I will have to add a few miles before I can Rev-it above 3000 p.m. it is very tempting to do so but I will respect the breaking. Procedure
Thank you
Bid in the amount of $14,250
The motor sounds great in the video however always below 3,000 rpm. I am not a racer but normally shift much higher as that’s the beauty of the air cooled era. Everything you have done is 5 Star. Having Potzinger warranty prior to the sale will give you more value and me more confidence. After all, you paid well for this warranty. Thanks
Bid in the amount of $13,250
Hello all
We have uploaded a cold start and drive video .
Cheers
@SZ504 @Simonzar
Hello
Thank you for your message
Happy to provide warranty written documentation from POTZINGER upon winning bid .
There is a 500 miles oil change and valve adjustment included .
Cheers
I see all the Potzinger invoices have been whited out. I would feel more comfortable bidding if the motor guarantee and break in service were confirmed by Potzinger. Considering May 2020 to today only 50 miles are rebuilt on this motor.
Bid in the amount of $13,000
@Redliner911 Hello redliner
Thank you for compliment ,
As far as noise , we have not noticed or experienced wind noises during our drives the OEM Porsche German made rubber seal is making a super tight seal.
As far as the mirror … it is an hommage to the 70’s era 911 Classic .
Cheers
The fitment of the hood with the front bumper is concerning. Seems like that would cause wind noise. Also, I would personally go for a passenger side mirror. Otherwise a pretty cool looking Targa.
@Vdepadua thank you
It was a 3 year project to get this perfect 911 to look , a bit lighter , sexier and unique looking ..
Beautiful
UPDATE ***
Due to bad weather condition we are pushing the driving video and cold start clip to tomorrow.
Thank you
Bid in the amount of $12,500
@Samuel718 That's great ! Thank you for the information
@Samuel718 The blue calipers were completely disassembled, rebuilt , Powdercoated
And they match the rear fan as well as the sub lye stickers on the interior
@porschebf Thank you much pf, the engine is covered for app 12 months if it not raced . An oil change and valve adjustment will be required after the 500 miles mark .
Great looking car. The Riviera blue calipers add that special touch. Looking over your invoices you definitely paid top dollar for your service. Considering the motor is still in break in mode …what type of guarantee will Potzinger hold for the next owner? Thanks all
@cmichaelsen Hello we are scheduling to shoot a video tomorrow and do a cold start .
We will upload it then
Thank you
Can the shoot and drive include a cold start video?
Really nice looking car!
@Samuel718 awesome...thanks!
@pillion77 hello pillion if you look at pic 82 and 83
You will see that the Bumper is actually reflecting a lot of the gray sky up above the paint is actually a high gloss and very reflective
No paint blemish other than the small hairline web on pic 18
also you will notice that there is a new seal between the hood and the back of the bumper .
The fit is different from the OEM but airtight .
Thank you
Hi there, Hard to tell from the pics but is the front bumper "sagging" in the middle? Poor fitment or just glare from the pics?
Also, the pics make the front bumper look like the paint is blemished badly on the top part. Is this accurate or is the paint actually not in great shape? Thanks!
@TyStav thank you and
hello we can certainly arrange a shoot&drive clip
Let me work on it asap
Bid in the amount of $10,000
Great looking car! Any driving videos? GLWA.
hello everyone ,
I m so excited to be part of the PCARMARKET experience , this 911 is celebrating its 40th birthday this year , she's not a "Concours d'Elegance Queen" but definitely a fined tuned pure beauty , wether you are going to Whole Foods or a black tie affair , you will get all the attention this car deserve . This is the true definition of " Standing the test of time "
Feel free to ask any questions and I will promptly reply .
