Up for auction is this 1982 Porsche 911SC Targa finished in black over a tan interior. Marking a significant advancement in the 911 lineage, the SC model debuted in 1978 with several refinements providing for improved reliability and a more accommodating ride. This 1982 example was the subject of an extensive restoration in 2017 which prioritized the use of all original Porsche parts. Said to be in exemplary condition with a considerable amount of documentation, this 1982 Targa is now being offered for auction showing approximately 47k miles on the odometer.
During the restoration, this 911SC was professionally refinished in its original color of black. The exterior is said to be in impeccable condition with a fully refurbished Targa top. A collection of detailed images is provided in the photo gallery along with a list of new parts. This Targa showcases a distinctive black roll hoop, wraparound rear glass and black Fuchs wheels which are currently dressed in healthy Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2014.
Inside, this Targa sports a tan leather upholstered cabin with a brown dashboard. A partial restoration of the interior was carried out which included new carpeting, reupholstered factory Sport Seats and the installation of a Porsche Classic radio. Driver amenities include air conditioning and power operated windows. The interior is noted to be in excellent condition and the seller confirms all gauges, electrical components and accessories to be fully functional.
Power comes from an air-cooled 3.0 L flat-six engine which sends 180 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. The 911SC features several updates over its predecessors including an aluminum engine and transmission case, larger anti roll bars and a brake vacuum booster. During the time of the restoration, this Targa is said to have been mechanically sorted with updated Carrera chain tensioners and re-torqued head studs. Additionally, this Carrera benefited from a fully rebuilt suspension and upgraded cross-drilled disc brakes. Accompanied by extensive service records and invoices, this 911SC is reported to be in excellent running order.
The sale of this 911SC will include the original books and tools, a set of two keys and a collection of documentation. This beautifully restored 1982 example is the perfect choice for any discerning enthusiast in search of an air-cooled Targa this season.

@pierrem53 I’m trying to find out if there is any additional records of work done to the transmission. I have listed all the paperwork I have for the car. The car shifts great and pulls hard. I believe it has slightly shorter shifter than standard, which gives it a sportier feel.
Is this the original 915 transmission?

@Ned Hi Ned. I'm recommend Grand Prix Cafe in Southampton, they know the car inside out. There is also a Porsche main dealer in Southampton. Shipping would be from zip 11963, I'm reluctant to give you an amount as companies vary depending on the level of service. Let me know if I can answer any further questions.
