This 1982 Porsche 911SC Coupe was ordered in special Wine Red Metallic paint and factory-equipped with forged alloy wheels, Sport Shock Absorbers, fog lights, and an electric sliding sunroof. The car is said to have been completely refinished in its original color and is accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity as well as a collection of service records dating back to the 1990s. Showing approximately 124k miles on the odometer, this 911SC is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.
This Coupe is finished in Wine Red Metallic, a rare special-order paint color offered during 1981 and 1982. Factory equipment includes optional rectangular front fog lights, black U.S.-spec rear bumpers, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels that are currently dressed in Yokohama tires from 2007. The refinished exterior is said to be in good condition with some small chips and scratches present. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black partial leather interior includes a matching black roof liner, an electric sliding sunroof, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, and a vintage Blaupunkt cassette stereo. Some patina is noted, and the seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
Up to 180 HP and 175 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels from an air-cooled 3l0-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The CARFAX report shows the idle speed and air/fuel ratio adjusted in September 2022 and the seller states there are no outstanding maintenance items at this time.
This sale will include a clean title and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

@khoyer Yes, I have driven the car over a hundred miles and no issues.
The paperwork shows coming in multiple times for overheating and hot start issues. Have these been resolved?

@twickes40 No, it was a rolling stop. Car seems to shift fine to me.
@VikingH can you comment on the condition of the transmission and synchros? I noticed in the driving video that you stopped at the stop sign before the highway and restarted in second gear. Is it difficult to put into first ?
@Quackbury Zoom in pics 139 and 140. Does not look like tensioner upgrade has been done.
Nothing wrong with sugar scoops. I prefer them as they are correct for the year.

Hey guys, I just sent the leak down test to Pcarmarket to post. it came back solid as expected. I also went ahead and changed the oil and plugs while in there.

Photographer checking in. To Quackbury's point, this paint is unbelievable in person. Throughout the photoshoot it seemed to shift on me between a dark red with pinkish undertones all the way to a deep red-orange, depending on angle and direct sun vs filtered. It was actually confusing trying to represent it correctly in pictures since its actual appearance falls along a spectrum of shades. I've photographed some really cool metallic paints, mostly on late model supercars, but this particular color is one of the most intriguing I can remember.
@VikingH I see the car had the AC footwell vent upgrade (sounds good on paper, but doesn't do much in real life). But has it had the two all-important mods? The CIS airbox pop-off valve, and the oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners?
I'd like to think it had, but given that it still has sugar scoop headlights, it's hard to guess what the prior owners were thinking.
What are the odds? My '83 was also Wein Rot, with white full leather, black leather dash, black carpets and lower panels. Not sure we've ever had '81, '82 and '83 Wein Rot owners in one "place" before.
Bidders, if you have never seen Wine Red Metallic in person, it is an AMAZING color. Not only does it look different in different lights, but different panels can appear different in the same light, depending on your viewing angle. There are several photos in the listing that hint at this, but seeing the car live really makes that "pop". You could be at a Cars and Coffee with a dozen other 911's, and this is the color folks will "ooh" and "ahh" over.
GLWTA!

Great car! I have an ‘81 also in Wine Red and get lots of compliments on the color. Owned for twenty-three years. It should bring good money. Good luck.

Very nice color. Any chance we can get a picture of under the battery with carpet out, better pictures of the under the engine (possibly with the car on the lift) and few close ups of the paint condition around the door seals and corners of the windshields?

@twickes40 I have posted some driving videos. the car drives great.
@Ranger3 we added some videos and service invoices. the car had 100k miles on it in 2000, and I don't have any bigger invoices prior to that. You can see the car drives and sounds strong, and I am sure anything major that was needed was addressed, or the shops looking after the last 10-12 years would have brought up.
@VikingH Thank you! Building confidence in the engine and transmission health will have a positive effect on bid amounts.
@Ranger3 I will scan and post invoices shortly. will also add some videos.
Same as requested by others - a driving video and documentation of engine confidence will help in my bidding. Thank you in advance.
Great looking car. Would love some more insight on the condition of engine and trans. Leak down #s or rebuild receipts would go a long way. Can we also get a cold start and driving video?
Has the timing chain tensioner been upgraded?
Do you have invoices/proof of internal engine work? Have head studs been replaced? Have you done a compression/leakdown test in preparation for the sale. Any invoices indicating internal transmission work? Does the 915 transmission upshift and downshift without grinding? Do the invoices indicate a clutch replacement? if yes what year and mileage? Thanks in advance for your response.
Beautiful color on this one.
