Introduced as a part of the Taft (Tough and Almighty Four-wheel Touring) lineup, the Daihatsu F20 showcases the brand’s reputation for off-road durability in the compact SUV category. Powered by a 1.6-liter inline-four engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case, this 1982 example was restored before its importation to the US from Columbia. Refinished in yellow over a black interior, it features a removable white hardtop, 15” steel wheels, an expandable rear cargo space with folding rear seats, a cabin heater, and more. Showing under 73k kilometers (approximately 45k miles) on the odometer, this F20 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.
As part of its restoration, this example was refinished in yellow and comes equipped with a removable white hardtop, black-finished bumpers, dual side mirrors, and a fold-down windshield. It rides on white-finished 15” steel wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires, with a matching spare mounted on the rear swing-out door. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior features front bucket seats and rear inward-facing bench seats upholstered in black vinyl, complemented by a body-color dashboard and black vinyl floor liners. Equipment includes manual windows and door locks, a cabin heater, and analog dials and gauges. The seller notes the absence of a fuel gauge but reports that all other gauges and electronics are functioning properly, with no warning lights present.
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter inline-four, which delivers a factory-rated 66 HP and 69 lb.-ft of torque through a 4-speed manual transmission and a low and high-range transfer case. The drivetrain features a part-time 4WD system for switching between 2WD and 4WD, depending on driving conditions. The suspension includes leaf springs with solid axles at the front and rear. It has drum brakes at all four corners and a manual recirculating ball steering.
This sale will include a spare tire and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “The F10/F20/F50/F60 series Daihatsu Taft is an off-road vehicle built by Daihatsu between 1974 and 1984. It was also sold as the Wildcat in Australia, and Scat in Germany, the Netherlands and some other European markets. The Taft is similar to the Suzuki Jimny, although a bit larger. The name 'Taft' stands for “'Tough and Almighty Four-wheel Touring Vehicle.' The first Taft was the F10 model, introduced in 1974. It was equipped with a 1.0 L (958 cc) petrol engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission with a two-range transfer case. The F10 model is available in short wheelbase (SWB) softtop and hardtop versions. Around 1977, the F10 was replaced with the F20 series with a larger 1.6 L (1587 cc) Toyota 12R petrol engine. Around the same time the F50 with a 2.5 L DG diesel engine was introduced. Both models had an improved transmission and were available in SWB softtop and hardtop versions, either as four- or six-seaters. In 1979, trayback/ute versions of the F20 and F50 introduced as the F25 and F55 models. In Papua New Guinea, these models were sold with a locally manufactured dropside cargo tray from 1980. The F20 is a very traditional 4x4, meaning it does not have power steering, independent suspension, air conditioning or any other modern touches. It is just you and the F20.”

I have been short handed today and have not been able to get the videos taken. I plan on having my wife help tomorrow.
Bid in the amount of $1,250
At this time I do not have video. I hope to in the near future.
@seller, driving video?
It would be perfect for that type of weather. I would love to have the new owner send pictures of it bulldozing a new path in the snow.
I love this retro Daihatsu. It is a riot to drive in stormy Northeast winter weather.
Unfortunately, I won't be in the market until next year
