The Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup was introduced in late 1979 as part of the first-generation Volkswagen Golf/Rabbit family. Designed as a compact pickup truck, it took an innovative approach that combined a front-wheel-drive layout for car-like handling abilities along with versatility and efficiency. This 1981 example comes finished in red over grey leather upholstery and has been upgraded with a 2.0-liter diesel inline-four engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission along with several additional modifications. Reportedly a lifetime southern California car, this pickup is now being offered for auction at no reserve.
This Rabbit Pickup was stripped to bare metal in 1985 and refinished in its current shade of red with silver contrasts including the hood, a-pillar, roof, and top of the truck bed. Details include hand-painted side stripes, bright silver moldings, and polished fender lips, along with chrome 15” BBS wheels with red-finished centers dressed in Michelin tires from 2022. Custom “Fuel Sipper” decorative artwork has been applied to the tailgate. Additional images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin has been customized with grey and red full leather upholstery. Details include a leather-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel, a wooden central dashboard with VDO instrumentation, a suede headliner, a custom armrest, an aftermarket shift knob, and carpets that cover Dyna Mat sound-deadening materials. The equipment also includes power steering, roll-up windows, an aftermarket head unit, air conditioning, and a power antenna.
This Rabbit has been upgraded with a Volkswagen Jetta-derived 2.0-liter inline-four diesel engine which sends power to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The seller states that a small booklet of records will accompany the sale. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.
This sale will include a clean title and a booklet of records.
The seller would like you to know: “This Rabbit was never wrecked or damaged. It underwent a bare metal repaint to a very high-quality caliber. All rubber trim is in excellent condition and all panels fit excellently. The custom interior includes a full leather dash, door panels, and seats. There is zero sun fade and it's always been stored inside. In my opinion, it’s probably one of the best in the country. This is a lifetime southern California car with just one owner since new.”

@Garden38 no all paint is from 1985, there are no blems, chips, or scratches, always stored inside, notice the jams and weatherstripping, they are not dried out,

Exceptional ElcaWabbit here. Nice work. If the seller has a clean Title its all good. Title and a signed receipt is all you need. Any outstanding tickets stay with him. BTW, I lose track of things with only 5-6 cars. GLTA

The DMV shows not able to process the registration. So...you show the 2024 registration.
@charliek911 no dishonesty, dmv shows 2024 reg
Yes, I am the bad guy for exposing your dishonesty. Good answer.
@charliek911 it shows reg to 2024, they need copy of the insurance, no tickets, but probably better of you don't bid, u sound like a dick
This DMV photo states that "Unable to process registration application due to parking citations or other delinquent accounts." You said the vehicle has a current registration. This has the optics of you being dishonest. No wonder you were evasive in your answers to my question about the registration.
@charliek911 @charliek911. 6/20/24. Photo of California dmv record in photo, will have video tomorrow
Thank you for the patience

First of all, I'm not your buddy! Second, all you had to do is say that you will check on it. Third, I don't care how many cars you have to keep up with.
@charliek911 buddy, I have 80 cars hard to keep up, as I said the car will have no back fees, give a chance to check
AAron....Please...what is the status of the current registration? NON OP or current drivable sticker for the plate. Come on...I've been patient and clear with my question. You have been dodging the answer. What's up?
@Garden38 motor was a installed when the car was two years old, it had 2000 miles , the truck has 75300 original w documentation , no leaks on the floor, some light sweating near valve cover,
@charliek911 there will be no fees for a California resident as back fees or any .
When was the new engine installed? How many miles on it when installed, and how many on it now? Are there any oil leaks? Is the paint on the car the original paint that was applied after the car was stripped to bare metal. Are there any rust areas visible, or known? Thanks
Please confirm which. If it is in the folder, please show pic. If non op, please show pic. THANKS
@charliek911 it is probably in the folder, if not it was put on a non op.
Have you replaced the new registration sticker on the CA plate?
@charliek911 I will get a walk around and cold start and post tomorow
