This 1981 Porsche 930 Turbo was originally sold in Germany, finished in Grand Prix White over a black leather interior and featuring a rare sunroof delete option. It was reportedly sent to RUF Automobile in 1989 for a 3.4-liter BTR conversion, which includes an increased engine displacement of 3.4 liters, a larger turbocharger, RUF intake and intercooler, a front-mounted oil cooler, and a quad-pipe RUF exhaust system for an output of 374 HP. The car also features RUF front and rear valences, 935-style mirrors, Recaro bucket seats, a RUF steering wheel, RUF instrumentation, and 17” RUF Speedline wheels. This 930 was imported to the U.S. by the current owner from Brussels, Belgium, in 2023, and is now being offered out of California with approximately 43k kilometers showing on the odometer. This 930 was factory-finished in Grand Prix White and came without a sunroof. During the BTR II conversion, it was fitted with RUF bodywork including a front valence with integrated fog lights, 935-style sport mirrors, and a slotted rear valence with twin dual-tipped exhaust outlets. Other equipment includes a RUF badging, wide Turbo-specific fenders, black stone guard decals, a rear window wiper, a Tea Tray rear spoiler, and 17” RUF Speedline wheels measuring 9” wide in front and 10” wide at the rear. New Toyo Proxes 888R tires were installed within the last 100 miles. The seller indicates the front fenders and bumpers appear to have been refinished, which is believed to have been done at RUF Automobile in Germany in 1989. A slight cosmetic damage is noted on the front passenger fender, as well as a paint crack near the rear spoiler and a crack in the glass on the driver’s side mirror. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Black leather interior features RUF Recaro bucket seats, a refurbished RUF Atiwe three-spoke steering wheel, and RUF-branded instrumentation. Accessories include power windows, a heater, an aftermarket carbon fiber gear knob, RUF-branded floor mats, and a Blaupunkt Santa Cruz MP34 stereo. The seller notes minimal signs of wear on the seats, carpets, and headliner. The seatbelt light stays on, the radio is inoperable, and the fuel gauge does not read accurately. The car is not equipped with air conditioning, and all other gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
The originally 3.3-liter flat-six engine has been rebuilt to a 3.4-liter displacement by RUF and fitted with upgraded RUF 935-style camshafts, a larger turbocharger, a front-mounted oil cooler, and a RUF air intake, intercooler, and exhaust system. It delivers up to 374 HP to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transaxle. Since acquiring the car, the current owner has overseen replacements of the fluids, spark plugs, and brake lines. The engine is said to run well, although it smokes intermittently and leaks a small amount of oil after sitting for extended periods.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This Porsche started life as a German-delivered 1981 Porsche 930 Turbo in Grand Prix White over black leather with sunroof delete. The seller purchased and imported the vehicle in 2023 from Belgium, where it was said to have been sitting in storage for several years. The previous owner states it was sent to RUF Automobile Germany in 1989 for a 3.4L BTR engine conversion, which it appears to have; the included documentation shows the vehicle registered in 1993 as an upgraded 3.4L RUF BTR. The RUF BTR II (Gruppe B Turbo RUF) features an upgraded 3.4-liter engine rated at 374 horsepower. During the car’s conversion, its engine capacity was increased to 3,344 cm3, resulting in a total power output of 374 hp. This modification was indicated on the vehicle’s Belgian registration document. Accompanying the vehicle will be its Belgian and German registration documents.”
