This 1981 Porsche 911SC Targa comes finished in Black over tan upholstery. It was configured with 16” Fuchs alloy wheels, front and rear spoilers, headlight washers, front fog lights, Sport shock absorbers, Sport Seats, cruise control, and more. Acquired by the seller in 2021 and previously listed on PCARMARKET, this Targa is now being offered for auction out of California with approximately 59k miles showing on the odometer.
The exterior is factory-finished in Black (A1) with a matching Targa bar and removable roof panel. Optional equipment includes front and rear spoilers, headlight washers, rectangular front fog lights, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels which come dressed in Goodyear Eagle tires. Details also include U.S. specification bumperettes, “sugar scoop” headlight rings, a center tail panel reflector, and a fender-mounted antenna. The original spare tire is stored in the front trunk. The seller attests to the paint's originality and notes minor imperfections with detailed images and a clean CARFAX report provided in the gallery.
Inside, the driver is greeted with tan upholstery with optional Sport Seats, coordinated carpets, and a contrasting brown dashboard and door top panels. Options include an electric antenna with four speakers, two rear shelf-mounted speakers, an electrically- adjustable passenger-side mirror, and cruise control. All gauges and accessories are said to be in proper working order.
An air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine produces up to 180 HP, delivered to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle. The seller states that routine services have been kept up to date, a new battery has been installed, an air conditioning service has been performed, new struts have been fitted, the brakes were serviced, and a smog test was passed in October 2021.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “A complete all original car with 59k original miles, excellent mechanical condition, original paint and interior with leather sport seats.”

@DaveWadf you could have reached out earlier and give me some time to gather those items. You can still buy the car if you want to through the deal tank and I will take reasonable offers. The car is as described, ignoring the noise from today. I wouldn't jeopardize my reputation for something like this....
@PCARMARKET I believe you’re incorrect.
I didn’t say any work was needed.
I said the vagueness about the condition of the motor is concerning, and that a rebuild can easily cost $30k. Therefore, bidders would like more info.
I did not say, or even imply, that the motor needed rebuilding. The seller’s lack of response as to the mechanical condition tanked this auction. How about his lame excuse that the receipts he had were too many to take photos of.. what? There were 114+ photos listed, but it’s too much to photograph the receipts?… c’mon.
Quite honestly, PCM should expect better listing information from their sellers, and elevate your standards for sellers to engage with prospective buyers.
@DaveWadf we disagree. You put a large dollar amount of work needed with no knowledge of if the car needs it or not. We are happy for you to ask questions and to convey opinions respectfully. If you cannot respect where we are coming from we kindly ask that you do not make comments on the listings.
@Mkindo I have… I really wanted to bid, but too much uncertainty on this car.
@PCARMARKET there was nothing inappropriate about my questions or comments.
I’m not tanking , or attempting to tank, an auction.
The seller’s lack of meaningful response is concerning, and should be for PCM as well. Engaging and interacting sellers are best for the community.
Bid in the amount of $40,000
@DaveWadf please ask your questions in a tactful manner that don't appear to be an attempt to tank an auction for them to not be removed by the moderator. Thank you.

It looks like my comment was deleted…?
No leak down numbers?
Service receipts are few and not legible, so so value at all.
No driving video or even a video of the car running.
When questioned on the motor, the seller just says it runs well, no attempt is made to add additional info… sketchy to me.
Thank you all for the bidding!

HAVE YOU DONE THE REGUIRED SERVICE TO THE CAR ?
Do you have a driving video?
@racecarrobbie thank you for your comments and yes a good opportunity to own an original 911SC Targa, exactly as purchased. Runs and drives excellent, AC works well (cold), ready for a new owner.
Dear potential buyers, if anyone has any questions please let me know. This is a beautiful original car with low miles. Desirable color combo and features with sport seats and factory front and rear spoilers.
@nogaragespace Thank you for your question - There are no major oil leaks, in fact nothing visible underneath or on the garage floor where parked for multiple weeks. Engine is in excellent running condition. No known issues.
The engine seems to have oil seepage. Can seller please comment on any leaks please. Was there a leak down test done

These are such great cars and in my opinion, undervalued. They are fun, reliable, and relatively inexpensive to maintain. Great bang for the buck. Good luck with auction!
