Beginning life as a standard Porsche 911SC Coupe, this 1981 example had reportedly been driven by Holly Hunter’s character on the television series Saving Grace from 2007 to 2009 after which it was acquired by the current owner as the basis for a custom 935 K3-inspired build.  The car was outfitted with 935 body panels as well as modified steel Slant Nose fenders, upgraded suspension, larger brakes, and a new 5.7L LS1 V8 engine producing over 400 HP.  Remaining street legal and accompanied by extensive records documenting the build process, this 935-inspired 911SC custom is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Washington.

Upon the seller’s acquisition, the car was fully disassembled and outfitted with Porsche 935 K3 rear quarter and rocker panels manufactured by American International Racing in Los Angeles on authentic vintage molds.  The rockers and quarter panels were narrowed to match and feature quick-release fasteners as well as flush-mounted taillights. The steel 930 Slant Nose front fenders were widened and modified for fixed H4 headlights by Jrod and Custom in Auburn, WA. The front fascia uses the top half of a Porsche 993 Turbo front bumper bonded to a Porsche 930 S front spoiler with integrated driving lights.  An adjustable wing is mounted to the rear decklid as well as locking hood pins. At a cost totaling over $60k, the custom bodywork was finished off by Raley’s Auto Body in Puyallup, WA, including a bright White exterior finish with Porsche lettering beneath the clearcoat.  The car rides on a set of custom Braid three-piece wheels measuring 8.5”x17” in front and 11”x19” in rear, dressed in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

The black leather interior has been fitted with a 993 RS-style steering wheel, new German silver knit carpeting, and a Porsche 930 S enter console with a VDO voltage gauge. The speedometer was rebuilt and adjusted for wheel size by North Hollywood Speedometer along with a rebuilt clock. Other additions include an aftermarket under-dash A/C system, a two-way remote alarm system, and a new Alpine radio.

The all-aluminum 5.7L LS1 V8 engine was built new by Turnkey Engine Supply of Oceanside, CA, and produces a claimed output of up to 410 HP and 400 lb.-ft of torque. The engine has a 6,600 RPM redline and is paired with a Rinda Technology marine-grade wiring harness and GM Delfi MEFI-4 ECU. Other features include an aluminum fuel tank, aluminum radiator, new throttle linkage, and custom mandrel-bent stainless-steel exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers and catalysts. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rebuilt Porsche 915 5-speed manual transmission with new synchros, a higher 5th gear, Porsche short shifter, and a Kevlar clutch.  The suspension has been completely overhauled with Elephant Racing bushings, ball joints, Bilstein HD struts, Bilstein Sport shocks, Elephant Racing torsion bars, quick-change spring plates, and new CV axles. Upgrades to the braking system include rebuilt 993 front calipers, a 930 Turbo master cylinder, and rebuilt 930 Turbo rear calipers with new rotors all around.  The build was completed in July of 2017 and the car has been driven approximately 11k miles since while never seeing track use.

This sale will include a clean title and build documentation.

In response to the previous comments by ElbowGrease. Thanks for the kind words. As far as his question about the current wheel set up filling out the arches enough or would it benefit from going wider?Speaking about the front wheels,I did a lot of research about. My Braid custom 3 piece wheels have a 23mm offset which is the factory Porsche 911 SC and Porsche 930 turbo front wheel offset.I learned from my research that if you change the offset to put the wheel further to the outside in an effort to fill out the front fender arches, you change the steering geometry. What is called the steering axis inclination angle. If you were to change the front wheel offset to fill out the fender arches more you would be messing up the handling of the car.The front tires are already fairly wide. They are 245-40-17 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The rear tires are pretty wide, they are 305-35-19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. The rear wheels could be put further to the outside by changing the rear wheel offset or by putting some high quality wide spacers on(like H&R) but as i said earlier, the car handles great the way it is.The steering is very nimble. From all of the information that I gathered about how to set up the suspension, what shocks, what torsion bars, what sway bars to make the car a neutral handling car,and I did that.It is a neutral handling car.I wonder if the rear wheels were put further to the outside if that would make the car handle not as well.Thank you, sincerely,Carl

First, I just want to say I love the sellers honest and straightforward approach in answering questions and describing the car. Don’t know him but seems like a straight shooter.
Second, for all those here with a sharper eye than me…do you think the current wheel set up fills the arches enough or do you think it can benefit from going wider?

A question that some people might have.Is the Porsche 915 5 speed manual transmission strong enough for the power of the 5.7 liter LS 1 410 HP engine. That is something i had questions about as well in the process of this build,so i asked questions to several Porsche Club of America tech representatives that have their own Porsche repair shops about the strength of the 915 transmission. They told me that the later 915 transmissions like i have in this car have aluminum cases on them. The early 911 transmissions(before the 911 SC) had magnesium cases on them. The magnesium case transmissions were weak. They told me that the aluminum case transmissions in the 911 SC cars will stand 600 HP.I was told that a lot of club members have put turbochargers on their 911 SC cars with the aluminum case 915 transmissions with 600 HP and didn't have any problems. Also when i was asking questions about the 915 transmissions i saw parts sellers advertising billet aluminum side plates for 915 transmissions, indicating that these aluminum side plates were necessary for strengthening the 915 transmissions.I asked the club tech representatives about this and they told me that my aluminum case 915 transmission doesn't need the aluminum side plates. It will stand 600 HP without the aftermarket side plates. So that gave me confidence that my 915 transmission would stand the 410 HP of my engine.Thank you, sincerely,Carl

Some more information about my car.Cantrell Motorsports in Bellevue,Wa,a premiere Porsche shop that does everything from suspension performance upgrades to engine rebuilds, installed the Porsche 993 front brake calipers, rebuilt by Rebel Racing in Morro Bay,Ca and the Porsche 911 to 993 custom billet aluminum front brake caliper adapters made by Road & Race in Los Angeles,Ca and the new Porsche 930 turbo front brake rotors and the new front wheel bearings in the Porsche 930 turbo front hubs and the new original Porsche equipment Textar front brake pads and the new Porsche 930 turbo brake master cylinder, new brake fluid reservoir.Cantrell Motorsports also installed the new Elephant Racing(in Santa Clara,Ca) rear quick change spring plates with polybronze and rubber bushings and the Elephant Racing 29mm rear quick change torsion bars. And Cantrell Motorsports installed the rebuilt Porsche 930 turbo rear brake calipers that were rebuilt and modified to bolt on to the Porsche 911 SC rear control arms(the Porsche 930 turbo rear calipers have a different bolt pattern than the 911 SC so that is why they have to be modified) rebuilt and modified by Rebel Racing.Cantrell Mototsports also installed the new original Porsche equipment 930 turbo Textar rear brake pads and Porsche 930 turbo rear brake rotors.Thank you sincerely,Carl

There are a couple of things that I think I forgot to add to the 3 page write up in the picture gallery. This car has Tarett Engineering adjustable drop links on the 20mm rear sway bar,and the rear sway bar mounts have been reinforced and strengthened with 3/16 inch thick steel flat bar welded on to the original sway bar mounts and primered and painted.Another thing, this car has been upgraded with Porsche turbo tie rods.If you read the 3 page write up,you probably get the idea that just about everything on this car has been upgraded or renewed except the original body shell and the window glass.Thank you, sincerely,Carl

Hello susan912.For some reason I can't send a direct message to you.I tap on send and it says there is some kind of error. So additional information about this car's handling.I had the car up to 125 MPH on the freeway and at that speed it was completely stable.Just the same as driving on the freeway at 60 MPH.Also the speedometer was rebuilt and modified for the taller rear tires and with the 200 MPH face by North Hollywood Speedometer. And at 100 MPH the engine is at 3300 RPM.The redline maximum RPM of the engine is 6600 RPM,so you can see why the car has a 200 MPH speedometer.I have never had this car on a racetrack but it could be right at home there.Thank you, sincerely,Carl

The wheels are made by Braid in Barcelona,Spain. They are custom 3 piece wheels with custom offsets. They were recommended to me by TRE Motorsports in Van Nuys,Ca.They use Braid wheels on their customers race cars.Braid performs rigorous performance testing on their wheels. The 8.5 x 17 and 11 x 19 wheels cost $3500.Thank you, sincerely Carl

About the suspension and handling of this car.The suspension is firm but not harsh. The body does not lean in the corners.Driving on rough city streets it does not beat you up.I had this car up to 125 MPH on the freeway and it was completely stable, just like going 60 MPH on the freeway. With the Michelin Super Sport tires it sticks like glue in the corners.Thanh you, sincerely Carl

For those that are wondering how well the cooling system works in this car,the Renegade Hybrids aluminum radiator and twin cooling fans setup will support 600 HP.At Renegade Hybrids shop in Las Vegas Nevada they use this same radiator and cooling fan setup for their customers 911 race cars with 600 HP.I took a trip in August of 2017 to Renegade Hybrids shop in Las Vegas. This car has the cooling fans turned on by the ECU computer at 195 degrees.Driving around the city streets of Las Vegas in 114 degree heat the temperature gauge stays steady at 195 degrees.Driving on the freeway there in 114 degree heat at 60 MPH the cooling fans don't come on and the temperature gauge reads between 185 degrees and 190 degrees and stays there. In 2018 in August I drove this car to the Porsche Werks Reunion in Monterey,Ca and entered it in the Porsche Werks Reunion car show.On the trip I drove through Sacramento,Ca where it was over 100 degrees. The temperature gauge readings for driving on the city streets of Sacramento and the temperature readings for driving on the freeway there at 60 MPH were the same as in Las Vegas.Thank you for looking, sincerely,Carl
