We are pleased to offer this stunning 1981 Porsche 930 Turbo finished in Wine Red Metallic over a black leather interior. Sold new from Downtown Fine Cars of Toronto, this example is said to have been one of only 63 Turbo’s delivered to Canada for the 1981 model year. In addition to its rare exterior color, this 930 came factory equipped with desirable Sport Seats as well as a limited-slip differential. It was purchased by the previous owner in 2015 who had carried out extensive service including the replacements of various seals and gaskets, a rebuilt turbo scavenge pump, new clutch cable, fuel pump, ignition components, engine mounts, and more. Also featuring some tasteful performance upgrades, this Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada while showing approximately 141k kilometers (87k-miles) on the odometer.
This 930 is finished in its rare original color of Wine Red Metallic, a shade offered on the Turbo for the 1981 model year only. The entire vehicle is said to have been disassembled and professionally refinished about 10 years ago, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The original glass has been retained and a set of proper 16” Fuchs wheels were sourced by the previous owner from a 1988 Turbo. The front tires are said to be in great shape and brand-new Yokohama rear tires were recently installed.
Inside, this 930 features a black leather interior with factory leather Sport Seats. A period-style Continental Bluetooth radio has been installed and the sunroof has recently been rebuilt and resealed. The factory A/C system has been retained, although the compressor is currently uninstalled and will be included should the next owner choose to reinstall it. The odometer had been previously repaired and there is said to have been little to no mileage added during the interim.
This 930 carries an air-cooled 3.3L turbocharged flat-six engine that sends as much as 300 HP stock to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox and factory limited-slip differential. Performance upgrades include Billy-Boat exhaust headers and intercooler, a Monty muffler, a TiAL 46mm wastegate, a short-shift kit, and upgraded 928 S4 front brakes with stainless steel braided lines (the original front calipers have been moved to the rear). The fan housing has also been modified to accommodate the updated 90/95-amp alternator. Recent service items are said to include new engine mounts, a rebuilt turbo scavenge pump, new ignition components, a new clutch cable, various new gaskets and seals, an overhaul of the pedal assembly, new shifter bushings, a brake fluid flush, wheel alignment, and replacement of the clutch shaft as well as a new fuel pump, accumulator and filter. A valve adjustment has also been performed and the seller reports compression test results ranging from 125-135 PSI across all six cylinders.
This sale will include a Porsche Production Specifications sheet, a collection of maintenance records, additional key blanks, the original warranty booklet, and a clean title. If you are in search of a classic Porsche 930, this Wine Red Metallic example is certainly worth consideration.

@sportscarguy3 AGREE 100%
Car should still do a decent price. People who don't think you are going to invest any money when buying an old air-cooled are a bit delusional. The forthcomingness of the seller should serve him well.

Interesting Porsche
Certainly well documented by pictures, well done.
Clutch and electrical...not a deal breaker ( imho ) for the right price
Nice sounding exhaust
Wow. 3 hours to go and it doesn't run right. And needs an engine-out clutch. Wow. Always something.
Always appreciate an honest seller.
Car seems to look and run well. I guess slight adjustment on bidding $ to address issue.
Thanks and GLWA
Hey folks. In the interest of full transparency I wanted to let everyone know that the car was inspected yesterday by a different air cooled specialist who did the previous work. Yesterday's inspection revealed that the car is going to need a clutch repair/replacement and there is an electrical issue they are diagnosing but it's possibly related to the CDI box. I felt it important to let the forum know about this information I've just learned this morning.

Very nice. My father had a Canadian-spec '82 930, again very rare that year. He sold it a while back and I think still regrets it, even aside from the huge increase in value in more recent years. This one's gorgeous!
I have always wanted an air cooled 930. Hope my bid wins it. ;)
