Developed by Volvo’s design team and primarily constructed by Bertone in Turin, Italy, the Volvo 262C was produced from 1977 to 1981 as a successor to the P1800, with only around 6,600 units made. Powered by a 2.8-liter V6 engine paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission, this 1980 example is finished in black over a tan leather interior. It features power-operated accessories, air conditioning, cruise control, an AM/FM radio, and more. This rare 262C is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada while showing approximately 130k miles on its odometer.
The 262C was designed by Jans Wilsgaard, and showcases craftsmanship by Bertone in its roof pillars, roof pan, windshield surround, cowl, and upper door sections. This example is finished in black and features square headlamps, Bertone badging, chrome accents around the windows, bumpers, and side moldings. It rides on a set of factory wheels wrapped in a new set of Michelin Harmony tires. The seller notes the original paint benefits from ceramic coating. Detailed images, including paint meter readings, are provided in the gallery.
The interior features tan tufted leather upholstery with matching door panels, color-coordinated carpeting, and black vinyl trim accents. Amenities include power windows and locks, an analog clock, cruise control, air conditioning, and an AM/FM radio. The seller notes that the cabin is in excellent overall condition, with all gauges, electronics, and accessories in full working order.
Power comes from a Peugeot-Renault-Volvo (PRV) fuel-injected 2.8-liter V6 engine, which delivers a factory-rated 140 HP to rear wheels through a 3-speed automatic transmission. It features a tuned suspension with MacPherson struts in the front and a live rear axle, power-assisted steering, and disc brakes on all wheels. It also has advanced safety features for its time, such as crumple zones, reinforced door beams, and head restraints on all seats.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a sales brochure, and a bill of sale.

Wow! Haven't seen one of these in ages. My uncle used to work for Dyer & Dyer - a giant Volvo dealer in the southeast. He sold a couple of these. Fun concept, arguably paving the way for the Chrysler TC by Maserati later. GLWA!!
