Toyota’s J40 series Land Cruiser was produced from 1960 until 1984 with a traditional body-on-frame design and all-wheel-drive configuration. This short-wheelbase 1980 example has been refinished in the modern Toyota color of Voodoo Blue and upgraded with a power steering system under prior ownership. Since being acquired by the seller two years ago, this FJ40 also received a new A/C system, interior upholstery, battery, starter, fenders, side steps, and more. This classic Toyota Land Cruiser is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey.
The FJ40 was refinished in Toyota’s modern Voodoo Blue paint color under previous ownership and was fitted with a set of new front fenders and side steps in 2021. Other features include a tan soft top, steel front bumper, yellow fog lights, a tow hitch, a rear-mounted spare carrier, and a set of black-painted steel wheels with General Grabber A/T tires. Some minor scratches and signs of age are noted on the exterior, detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The interior received new black leatherette upholstery in 2021 along with a new air conditioning system, safety cage, and more modern forward-facing rear seats. A new radio has been installed and the odometer was reportedly reset within the last year.
Power comes from a carbureted 4.2-liter 2F inline-six engine paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox and dual-range transfer case that drive the rear or all four wheels. A power steering system was installed under prior ownership and the current owner installed a new electronic starter in 2022 along with a new battery. Routine oil changes have been carried out, most recently in November 2022.
This sale will include a clean title.

@Evegafjcruisers Not sure how to determine month of production on an old Toyota, but they made upgrades in August of 1980.
@BRP19 originaly speced for LaTam. However, power steering, and front disk brakes have been added or were upgrade options, even for US models. I also added a safety cage, new seatbelts, and more. I replaced most, if not all hoses in the US. Starter, battery, etc.
I dont knkw how to identify the month of production? Is this based on the VIN number?
Originally specced for sale in which country? What month in 1980 was the vehicle built?
@Evegafjcruisers message sent, thanks

@BRP19 I just tried to pulled a report form Carfax, but it is not available. I did try by VIN and by Plate Number. I'm adding an image of the report to the photo gallery.
Thanks for asking about these things. I will keep it in mind.
@BRP19 I have never pulled one for my classic FJs. VIN should be clean. No accidents noted. Car is registered and insured in New Jersey.
Carfax?
@BRP19 Topless photo has been added.
BTW, it is quite easy and fast to get the top off and/or on.

@BRP19 @BRP19, Thanks, great questions.
I will add a few pictires with the top off, windshield down. I don't have photos with the doors removed, sorry.
1900km (1200 mi) since rebuild in 2021.
Overall mileage should be on the 150,000 km ( 93000 mi).
How about some pictures with the windows removed and the top off? Any idea of mileage?
