One of 840 examples produced for the model year, this 1980 Porsche 930 Turbo came factory-finished in Grand Prix White and features a custom backdated appearance inspired by the Carrera RSR race car. Since it was acquired by a previous owner in 2019, this 930 underwent a custom mechanical restoration by Morris Brothers of Utah including a rebuilt engine with an upgraded center-mount turbocharger, MSD ignition, methanol injection, nitrous, a Cryogenic intercooler system, and much more. The car also features Bilstein and Rebel Racing suspension, Elephant Racing brakes, a Sparco fire suppression system, and a custom RS-style interior with green tartan upholstery. Built with uncompromising performance upgrades and classic air-cooled racer styling, this custom 911 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This 930 was painted Grand Prix White from the factory and is said to have been completely refinished under prior ownership along with the fitment of RSR-style bumpers and an IROC-style rear decklid spoiler. Other customizations include black Carrera side stripes, black mirrors and headlight rings, hood pins, exposed oil cooler lines, and black 15” Fuchs wheels dressed in Michelin TB15 tires measuring 270/45 in front and 295/40 in the rear. The front hood pins are nonfunctional, and some minor damage is noted at the bottom of the tailpipe as depicted in the gallery.
The cockpit has been redone and outfitted with a pair of custom GTS Classics bucket seats trimmed in black leather with green Wallace Clan Tartan inserts and Porsche-crested headrests. The Rennline RS door panels feature tartan pull straps and green Rennline door lock plates. Other accessories include a WEVO short shifter and green cheese grater knob, Rennline floorboards and pedals, removable Rennline track mats, a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, a green Brey-Krause harness bar, Repa safety harness, digital auxiliary gauges, and a Sparco fire suppression system. The cabin was reportedly lined with sound insulation along with new carpeting and headliner under prior ownership. The fuel gauge has been replaced and the passenger window operates slowly according to the seller.
The air-cooled 3.3-liter flat-six engine is said to have been overhauled by Morris Brothers of Utah under previous ownership including new seals, ignition, and fuel system components. The engine was also modified for performance with ported cylinder heads, 911SC cams, and a center-mounted GSX61 turbo paired with a custom intercooler, TiAL 44mm wastegate and blow-off valve, 935-style headers, and a Zork tube exhaust pipe. Other upgrades include a Cryogenic intercooler cooling system with Zex nitrous bottle, a Snow Performance methanol injection system, a digital warmup regulator, an MSD 6AL2 ignition box, and an MSD SS coil with a mechanically locked distributor. Electronics include AEM progressive cabin controller and a 16-channel Innovate SD card data logger. Oil coolers are mounted in the front bumper and inner fender, and protective Rennline skid plates have been added to the underside.
The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The transmission was reportedly rebuilt with shorter 2nd and 3rd gears along with 8:37 ring and pinion gear hardware. The suspension includes Bilstein shocks in front and a set of Rebel Racing rear coilovers in the rear. Stopping power comes from Elephant Racing 930 ERX brakes. Recent maintenance includes the installation of upgraded brake pads and rotors, new brake lines and fluid, fresh gearbox oil, and a new throttle bellcrank bushing.
This sale will include a clean title and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The seller adds that this vehicle will not pass a California emissions inspection due to the exhaust modifications.
