Introduced in 1980 for the European market and arriving in the United States by 1983, the Porsche 928 S differentiated from the base model with notable upgrades, including a larger 4.7-liter 16-valve V8 engine, improved brakes, new front and rear spoilers, and wider wheels and tires. This inaugural-year European-market 928S is finished in tan over matching upholstery and features a 5-speed manual transmission. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania.
The S-model stands apart from the standard 928 with its front and rear spoilers, along with wider wheels and tires. This example is finished in tan and rides on factory 16” flat-disc wheels wrapped in an older mixed set of tires. Exterior features include pop-up headlights with washers, integrated fog lights, a rear window wiper, and protective side moldings. The seller notes some imperfections, including loose molding on the driver-side front fender, peeling body molding on the front passenger-side fender, clear coat peeling on the passenger-side roof, and light scratches on the wheels. Additionally, the key for the rear trunk lid is missing. Detailed images are available in the gallery.
Inside, the tan leather seats are complemented by multi-tone door panels and a black dashboard. Features include power windows, door locks, and mirrors, a sunroof, 928-branded door sills, an aftermarket leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel, and aftermarket floor mats. The seller notes a cut-out section of the driver’s side dashboard, a crack above the gauges, and some fading trim pieces. Additionally, the analog clock, air conditioning, and replacement Kenwood radio are currently inoperable.
Beneath the hood lies a 4.7-liter V8 engine distributing up to 296 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Standard performance equipment includes a Weissach rear axle, front and rear stabilizer bars, and 4-wheel vented disc brakes.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This 928 is a great car for someone looking to take out and enjoy a car without having to worry about diminishing the value. The 5-speed Transmission makes this car all the more enjoyable; it handles well and accelerates with ease. Yes, it has some cosmetic issues here and there; however, if you're looking for a car to use or track, this is a good candidate, and that is why it is priced at the price point it is. If you're looking for a garage queen, keep looking; otherwise, consider stepping into this classic Porsche.”
