Up for auction is this 1980 Porsche 924 Turbo presented in a two-tone Inari Silver and Onyx Metallic finish over a brown interior.  Introduced in 1976 as Porsche’s entry-level sports car, the 924 was the very first road-going Porsche to utilize a front engine and rear-wheel drive design.  This 1980 Turbo was collected through Porsche’s European Delivery program shortly before it was imported to Mexico.  This 924 made its way to the United States where it is said to have remained in the same family up until 2017.  Having been driven less than 300 miles in the past 3 years, this 924 is stated to be in great running order with approximately 53k miles showing on the odometer.

The two-tone Inari Silver and Onyx Metallic finish is reported to be in fair condition with some typical signs of wear, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery.  This Turbo model can be identified by its signature ducted front hood, additional front air inlets and black polyurethane rear spoiler.  This 924 rides on factory honeycomb alloy wheels which come dressed in healthy Continental tires from 2016.

Inside, this Turbo features a brown interior with cloth seat inserts.  Factory options include air conditioning, headlight washers, a rear window wiper, power antenna and alarm system.  All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional, although the A/C blower motor is reported to be a bit louder than it should be.

This 924 carries a 2.0 L inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which is mated to number’s matching 5-speed manual transmission.  150 HP is delivered to the rear wheels making for a 0-60 time of approximately 7.3 seconds.  The Turbo model comes standard equipped with performance features including front and rear anti rolls bars and a stiffer suspension.  Included service records show proper routine maintenance and the seller confirms this Turbo to be in great driving condition.

The sale of this 924 Turbo will include two keys and books.  If you’ve always dreamed of owning a vintage Porsche sports car, this 924 Turbo offers an incredible opportunity.

    @peakay -
We do not have any more information on an accident. There was some damage and paint work done to the rear according to the information and paint meter readings but it does not appear to be major.

We believe the carpet has faded into the green color. It appears to be originally brown.

@bobsright I had the exact same damage on a car that was transported and wasn’t winched or tied down from the correct points. The transport company paid for the repairs but it was a hard fought battle. Luckily I had PPI photos as proof and when the vehicle was being unloaded a friend was snapping off photos and you could see that the chain was in the damage area.
Nice car, even with the history of damage it looks like they did a decent repair. Though you should consider having the pin stripe corrected on the left fender. GLWA

Cool little car if economical. The rip in the frame rail and the broken/bent strut, control arms, bearings, wheel, and the paint/bondo on the left rear are a little disconcerting. Still, could be a decent little driver. I learned to drive a manual on a '77 1/2 green 924 so this sort of brings back memories.

Great looking 931! The color scheme is so unique; I remembered it from when this car sold on BaT in 2017.

Was the carpet originally tan/brown and has faded to the odd green color on the upper surfaces and in the hatch, or was it some type of color match?

GLWS! Will be interested to see where this ends up.

Love the colors of this thing! So looking at the paint gauge readings (large variance left rear) and the repair bills from 2017 (left rear strut bent, control arm and wheel replaced), it must have had a fairly major collision in the left rear, correct? Any records or other information on that? Thanks.

    Lendou -
There is no Carfax Available for this vehicle because of the age. The car was owned by one family until 2017. The receipts match the name on the original invoice. After 2017 the car has had 2 owners. All manuals and books are with the car, a picture should be uploaded shortly. We have one ignition key, two glove box keys, and one alarm system key.

    Bobsright -
We are unsure how the hole in the frame rail got there.

What's with the gaping hole in the frame rail?

@939 vehicles destined for Mexico were accepted in both kilometers and miles on the speedometers (very laxed standards for importation). The 1979/1980 931 cars were available, as an option, with front and rear vented disc brakes which then required the five lug wheels. I’ve owned several 931 cars (still own two) and the two/tone cars are my favorites.

Great looking car. If the car was originally destined for Mexico - where they use metric system - wouldn't the speedometer/odometer be in kilometers? It was likely converted to miles when it was brought into USA. Is there any record of what the mileage (kilometers) was when it was converted to miles?
For a 1980 model, it is interesting to see four lug wheels, drum brakes in the rear, and sact aluminum rims. I have identical car to this one, (ser # 150998), and it has five lugs wheels, disk brakes all around, and forged rims .
