We are pleased to present this beautifully preserved 1980 924 Turbo for auction. Produced from 1976 to 1988, the 924 was the very first road-going Porsche to utilize a front engine rear-wheel drive configuration. Reportedly kept in storage by its original owner since 1982, this 924 was purchased by the selling dealer earlier this year and underwent a comprehensive mechanical refreshment. Now showing just 17,500 miles on the odometer, this 924 Turbo is being offered for auction in an exceptionally clean condition by its seller in Escondido, California.
A sporty 2+2 coupe, the 924 Turbo highlights a race-inspired NACA duct hood with forward facing air intakes. This 924 is finished in timeless silver with blue pin-striping. All paint is meter confirmed original with the hood reading slightly higher than the rest of the vehicle. The original owner claims the car had never received a respray under his ownership. The OEM slotted 16” rims are in great shape and come wrapped in new Hankook Ventus V2 tires. This 924 retains its original 6-digit blue California license plate showing it was last registered in 1982.
This Turbo's completely original black leather interior remains in exceptional condition. The seats show no signs of abuse or deterioration and the dashboard is free of cracks that these cars notoriously develop with age. Factory options for this 924 include power windows, air-conditioning and a Blaupunkt cassette radio. All accessories, gauges and electrical systems are reported to be fully functional at this time.
This 924 carries its original 2.0L inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine. 170 horsepower is delivered to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. When this Turbo was acquired by the selling dealer earlier this year it was not running as a result of long-term inactivity. An intensive mechanical restoration process consisting of the following replacement parts and service items ensued.
This 924 now stands in excellent, ready-to-run condition. There are no noted mechanical issues present and the car is said to run and drive like-new.
Included in the sale of this brilliant highly original 924 Turbo will be original manuals, early service records, a stamped maintenance booklet and a clean California title. Also included are comprehensive records and receipts of all the recent work performed to bring this car to the top level running condition that it is in today. Detailed photos and paint-meter readings will be provided in the gallery below. Beautifully preserved and displaying just 17.5K original miles, this collector’s-grade single-owner 924 is a true time capsule of a car. Do not miss your chance to bid on this exceptionally clean and mechanically sound Turbo.

@Ronsturm for the life of me I didn’t get it!
@Beckaircooled ahhh, thanks for explaining it to me. Makes total sense now- you’re right, this is an enthusiast site and now I get it!:)
Best! Ron:)
@Ronsturm in my Experience the bidders here wait until very late in the auction to bid, which is the smart way to play it. Cars seem to come up to their fair market value and do sell as frequently here as anywhere on the web. You’re looking at smart buyers.

@WSWCo people just bid really stupidly low amounts here. Though it’s nice to look at the cars.

The car was bid to $24,250 on BaT last winter, and it didn’t sell then. So it will take at least that much unless the seller is more eager to sell.
