Beginning with a 1980 Porsche 911SC, this example was transformed by PowerTech of Rockaway, New Jersey, between 2016 and 2018 as a tribute to the iconic Carrera RS. Refinished in Viper Green over tan leatherette with plaid seat inserts, it has been fitted with a sunroof-delete panel, a long-hood conversion, and RS-style bumpers, fenders, and a ducktail spoiler. This 911 benefits from a rebuilt flat-six enlarged to 3.2 liters, a rebuilt 915 5-speed manual transmission, and the installation of JE pistons, PMO carburetors, Bilstein shocks, and more. Reportedly driven just over 800 miles since the restoration, this Carrera RS tribute is now being auctioned out of New Jersey.

This Coupe has been modified with a long-hood conversion, a sunroof-delete panel, fiberglass RS-style bumpers, fenders, and a rear ducktail spoiler. The body has been refinished in the iconic shade of Viper Green contrasted with RS-style graphics in black. Other details include H4 headlights, black horn grilles, a chrome driver’s side mirror, and dual exhaust outlets. It rides on 15” Fuchs wheels in a black and satin silver finish with Vredestein Sportrac 5 tires. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin has been reupholstered in tan leatherette with plaid cloth seat inserts, contrasted with a black dashboard and upper door panels. Equipment includes a leather-wrapped three-spoke Momo Prototipo steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, power windows, and leather door pulls. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.

This 911SC’s air-cooled flat-six has been bored out to a 3.2-liter displacement as part of its extensive rebuild by the specialists at PowerTech of Rockaway, New Jersey, which also included JE pistons, PMO 46mm carburetors, and a refurbished 915 5-speed manual transaxle. New Bilstein shocks were also installed along with a strut tower brace. The seller states there are no outstanding maintenance items.

This sale will include a clean title.

Nice to see this 911 for sale again. Took a close look at it back in 2018-2019. Hope it finds a forever home. Good luck to the seller and buyer.

@Quackbury Aren't the door pulls operated by pulling the long strap? Looks like the aft part of the long strap goes through the door card. Just my observation.

  • Speedj1 (registered bidder) 11 months, 4 weeksago

Looking forward to the driving video.

  • Quackbury (registered bidder) 11 months, 4 weeksago

@Speedj1 the A/C on the 911SC's was virtually non-existent anyway. You ain't missin' nothin".

I'm interested in how one exits this car with no interior door pulls?

I love almost everything about this except for the 2.7 on the grill. The SC's were 3.0, while the later Carrera's were 3.2's. Yes, this is an homage to the 2.7 Carrera RS, but the 2.7 badge feels a bit like slapping an ///M3 badge on a 328. Easy enough to remove, though.

$145,000 of parts and labor for the conversion, on top of hte cost of the donor car? Wow. Goitta be a story behind why that owner sold the car. Divorce? Estate sale?

Good afternoon and happy holidays to all! @speedj1 it appears that area was repaired at some point. I have attached pictures from both sides up close doesn’t look that bad. As for the a/c it is removed and does not have the components. @aircooledguysks the entire motor was rebuilt. I also attached much more photos of the motor. It’s very clean no leaks and runs great. We will post a driving video on the 26th as we are closed for the holiday.

Sorry for the delayed response we are all battling the flue and colds around here!

Happy holidays to all and good luck!

@carpointautogroup good looking backdate. Looking forward to responses to @Speedj1 and @Bruce914 questions, but have one of my own. Was the engine case split to rebuild the bottom end? If not, how many miles were on the engine prior?

  • Speedj1 (registered bidder) 12 monthsago

Question about images 52 and 53 repairs?

Looks like AC was removed. Am I seeing that correctly?

A driving video going through the gears would be really helpful.

Was the 3.2 created from original sc engine?

  • Bruce914 (registered bidder) 12 monthsago

Beautiful car - pic 52 and 53, is that bondo or ?? Hard to tell but is it a CAT delete?

  • carpointautogroup (seller) 12 monthsago

@esgy4sure yes it will be replaced.

  • edgy4sure (registered bidder) 12 monthsago

will the Carrera graphics be fixed prior to sale?

  • carpointautogroup (seller) 12 monthsago

    Good afternoon All,
Thank you for this opportunity to list this perfect example of a 911SC. We will be as transparent as possible on any questions we are asked. That being said @skipmots the sticker got damaged in detail and we didn't have the time to replace prior to photos. I will post pics as requested of the frunk and undercarriage momentarily as well as all photos during restoration of this gem. Please don't hesitate to bid or also come view in person if needed.

I would like to buy a vowel ; ) beautiful build.

  • skipmots (registered bidder) 12 monthsago

    @seller, couple of questions:
    - why was Carrera sticker on drivers side not completed? Also, looks as if there’s residual adhesive or marring in the drivers door from the sticker, would you verify please?
    - can you please add pix of the frunk with carpet in place for better viewing?
    - frunk hood looks misaligned on drivers front, any notable history or cause?
    - please add pix of undercarriage including the wheel wells to view underside of flare body work.
    Thank you!
