This 1980 Porsche 911SC Targa is said to have been cared for by three owners and remained with its last caretaker for about 23 years prior to the seller’s acquisition. It comes finished in Guards Red over a Black interior and features front and rear Turbo spoilers, 16” Fuchs alloy wheels, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, upgraded Turbo valve covers, SSI heat exchangers, and oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners. This 911SC is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Washington.
This 911SC is finished in Guards Red with a removable black roof panel and an overhead Targa bar with a heated glass rear window. The car is equipped with 911 Turbo front and rear spoilers as well as rectangular front fog lights, black rear stone guard decals, H4 headlamps, a fender-mounted antenna, a polished exhaust tip, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The seller indicates a full glass-out repaint was completed during the mid-1990s and the finish remains in very good overall condition with some minor imperfections. The windshield wiper arms have been removed. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The black interior has been customized with a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, Targa bar reinforcement rods, Porsche-crested door handles, grey Porsche Targa floor mats, stainless-steel Porsche-branded door sills, and an aftermarket aluminum shift knob and pedal covers. The sound system has also been updated with a newer Blaupunkt radio. The seller notes the air conditioning compressor has been removed and the speedometer was replaced at approximately 73k miles with supporting documentation. The current odometer reading is just over 10k miles and the car’s true combined mileage is said to be approximately 83k miles. The seller adds that the Targa bar top seal is worn, and a new seal will be included in the sale for the next owner to install.
An air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 180 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed 915 manual transaxle. The engine features upgraded Turbo valve covers, oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners, and a pair of SSI heat exchangers. The suspension includes green Bilstein shock absorbers and a front strut tower brace. The seller notes that some service records are included with the sale.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, a front bra, an engine bay workshop cover, some service records, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I started working for Porsche at Chick Iverson Porsche-Audi Newport Beach, CA, in 1978. I have driven my fair share of 911's... more than a few. My personal car is an '82 SC. This is a great driving car! You Porschephiles out there understand.... some of these cars just "feel" right. This is one of those cars. The car starts instantly cold/warm. No smoke. No leaks. Clutch take-up is smooth, with no chatter, and no slip. The gearbox is butter smooth. The brake pedal pressure and modulation are perfect. The car tracks perfectly straight, with no steering play. The car has SSI exhaust and a great sound!! It's just a little raspy without being obnoxious... I LIKE IT! Super nice car. The only suggestion that I would make is to bring the car down to European ride height. I own an '82 SC coupe as a personal car, I wish mine ran and drove this well!!! Seriously. Happy bidding”

The Porsche carfax is good...... the doors ping !
Also. Just occurred to me that there’s no carfax?
@porscheklaus I don't see them...sorry If I'm missing them...wouldn't they be at the end?
@porscheklaus thanks!

@porscheklaus didn’t see any pics of the back seat. Are they still in decent shape?
@AA_911 nothing like the sound of an aircooled 911 with proper exhaust 😁
@porscheklaus it sure sounds like it! Beautiful ride indeed!

@porscheklaus awesome, your response is much appreciated!
@ruf_kühlt no, no need. The car runs perfectly. No smoke, no leaks. No miss at idle. You are welcome to have a PPI done and I can suggest the name of one of the finest 911 aircooled techs on the planet to have a look. I will gladly set up an inspection for you, though having started to work for Porsche in 1978, and knowing these cars pretty darn well, an absolute waste of time and good money.
I would have absolutely no reservation about driving this car anywhere, right now.
Bid in the amount of $6,500
Any leakdown #s?
Bid in the amount of $5,500
@stockbkr please keep in mind all hoses and the receiver drier are there, newer, more efficient compressors are available for reasonable $
Bid in the amount of $5,231
As rhe ad states, the ac compressor has been removed. When new they cooled poorly.
Bruce, I live in a tropical country in the Far East. How is the AC?
Thanks for all the looks so far. "the wipers have been removed". I do have the wipers... I was told they've been removed because the car hasn't seen rain in a very long time... :)
@porscheklaus Bruce , I did find an aftermarket catalyst for about $500. Pricey but, a good deal less than the oem $1400 unit. Do you happen to know anyone with the same car? 4 bolts 😁
Bid in the amount of $1,000
@Bruce914 No, sorry, has bypass pipe. No emiisions here in Washington State :)
I had the identical car - miss it. For us California people - is there a CAT on the vehicle?
Thanks for looking and happy bidding.
