Available for auction is this 1979 Toyota FJ40 finished in matte beige over a red waterproof vinyl interior. First produced in 1960, the 40-Series Land Cruiser is regarded as one of the most capable and durable off-road vehicles of all time. This 1979 example was the subject of a comprehensive nut and bolt, frame-off restoration courtesy of Leyton Cars Classic of Bogota, Colombia. The restoration included a host of upgrades, most notably an Old Man Emu 2.5” lift kit, a 5-speed synchromesh manual gearbox, LED lighting, a Warn winch, a custom-trimmed interior, and more. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida while showing less than 50 miles on the odometer since its restoration.

During its restoration, the frame of this FJ40 was powder-coated gloss black while the body was finished in a shade of matte beige. A new removable canvas roof was fitted, matching the shade of red found inside the cabin. Details include LED headlights and foglights, a snorkel, an 8,000 lb Warn VR Evo Series winch, a Hi-lift Jack, and a set of 17” ION Type 171 finished in black with Toyo All-Terrain Open Country tires.

The cabin has been custom fitted with a pair of BMW power-adjustable front bucket seats, which along with the inward-facing rear jump seats have been upholstered in red Microtexture water-resistant vinyl. Carpets were eliminated in order to maintain the rugged nature of the cabin, and other custom details include an analog and digital programmable LED gauge cluster, a JVC touch screen radio head unit, a 4-speaker Alpine sound system, a rearview camera, hand crank windows, and a modern air conditioning system. The seller confirms that all gauges, electronics, and features remain functional.

Power comes from a 4.2L 2F inline-six, which was fully rebuilt during the restoration and is said to produce up to 145 HP and 230 lb-ft of torque. The rear or all four wheels are driven by way of an upgraded 5-speed synchromesh manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The suspension has been upgraded with an Old Man Emu 2.5” lift kit with Nitrocharger Sport Shocks and Steering Damper. Stopping power has been enhanced with a front disc brake conversion kit.

This sale will include a clean title.

Nice truck, an interesting color combo. Is the yellow a Toyota color? Thank you.
