Up for auction is this 1979 Porsche 928 finished in Black over a black partial leather interior. With its robust V8 engine and luxurious accommodations, the 928 remains one of the most celebrated and recognizable grand touring cars of all time. This early 2-owner 1979 example is said to have been under the diligent care of its previous owner for over 20 years. It features a desirable 5-speed manual transaxle and a factory optional limited-slip differential. Offered with service records and the original books, tools, and window sticker, this 928 is now being listed by its seller in Florida with approximately 144k miles currently showing on the odometer.
The Black paint on this 928 is said to be mostly original and in very good condition with some minor road-going wear throughout the body. The rear hatch frame, upper passenger door, and rear bumper were also recently refinished for cosmetic purposes (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). Aftermarket projector headlamps have been installed and this example retains its factory Phone Dial wheels that are currently dressed in BFGoodrich tires dated from 2016.
Inside, the black partial leather interior is said to have been kept in very nice condition. An aftermarket radio has been installed and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional including the factory power windows, sunroof, seats, and air conditioning.
A 4.5 L fuel-injected V8 engine delivers 230 HP and 253 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a desirable 5-speed manual transaxle with an optional limited-slip differenital. With its robust drivetrain and innovative self-adjusting “Weissach Axle” rear suspension, the 928 is praised for its ability to travel at high speeds with the utmost comfort and composure. Service records are included from the previous ownership showing proper maintenance and a recent oil and filter service was carried out in preparation for sale along with a power steering fluid flush.
This sale will include a set of 2 keys, the original books, tools, and spare tire, service records, a clean title, and the original window sticker. For any aspiring transaxle Porsche owner, this nicely presented 1979 928 is not to be missed.

I just submitted a cold start video. Hopefully, it can go up before the auction ends. The car starts on a dime, ideals perfectly at 1,000 RPMs, and sounds incredible as you go through the power band. You'll hear the pops at about 4,000 RPMs. This car is a real pleasure to drive. Lots of power and incredible handling.
Thank you all for the messages and calls. I hope this one goes to a great new home today. Feel free to ask any last minute questions.
As always, we are willing to work with the buyer on any work they want done prior to receiving the car at cost. We have a full shop and have been servicing Porsches for 35 years now. Good luck to all!

@rreasen Rear left inner. As I mentioned, I would take care of that before delivering the car.
Thanks!
You mentioned one of the CV boots needs replaced? Which one? Also, I noticed a bit of fading in the carpet, does it need replaced?

@MarkFaris Speaking is always best. Send me a message and we'll connect there. Thanks!
@MarkFaris I have an interest in bidding on this car, but I have several questions. Is it better to send those questions in this message format or speak to you directly?
@VertexAuto Great, thanks.
@MarkFaris I do believe so as there are no issues on the instrument cluster. I'll upload a start up video today.
Very nice looking 928. One of the service invoices had a note that the instrument cluster needed some work, has this been done?
If forgot to mention that this car have a very unique Xenon headlight modification that works fantastic! The headlights are converted from a Harley Davidson Motorcycle. I'll upload a photo of them up and working tomorrow.
@checkmate1996 Thank you! It's a wonderful drive. Clutch feels great, both on the pedal and while shifting. Transmission is good. Shifts properly to all gears. I'll try to upload a drive video tomorrow.
Bid in the amount of $2,750
