Up for auction is this 1979 Porsche 928 finished in Silver Metallic over a black leather interior.  One of the most advanced and luxurious grand tourers of its time, the Porsche 928 offered a modern lightweight design, accommodation for up to four passengers, a near-perfect weight distribution, and a powerful V8 engine.  This 1979 example features a highly desirable 5-speed manual transaxle along with 928 S style front and rear spoilers, an upgraded period steering wheel, air conditioning, Club Sport wheels, and a Borla exhaust system.  Originally sold from Quakerbridge Porsche Audi of Vineland, New Jersey, this 928 has reportedly been well looked after throughout the years with major service items addressed including replacements of the timing belt and water pump.  It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York with just over 68k miles showing on the odometer.

This 928 comes finished in Silver Metallic and is believed to have been completely refinished at some point during previous ownership.  Updated 928 S polyurethane front and rear spoiler have been added along with a set of 16” Porsche Club Sport wheels which are currently dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season tires.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings.

Inside, the driver is greeted by a luxurious black leather interior with manually adjustable seats, 2+2 rear bucket seats, and a leather-wrapped Lecarra four-spoke steering wheel.  Other features include a rear window wiper, power-adjustable mirrors, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control, and an original Blaupunkt New York cassette stereo.  The car was ordered without a sunroof.

This first-generation 928 is equipped with a front-mounted water-cooled 4.5L V8 engine producing up to 230 HP and 253 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle.  An upgraded Borla stainless steel exhaust was equipped in 1999, and the factory “Weissach” axle enables passive rear-wheel steering for excellent handling.  Records accompanying the car show the timing belt and water pump to have been last replaced in 2011 at 62k miles.
