This 1979 Porsche 911SC Coupe was originally sold in Germany, finished in Silver Metallic over a black interior featuring a rare sunroof delete option. It comes equipped with a 5-speed manual transaxle paired with its 3.0-liter flat-six engine, which features higher compression Euro-spec pistons and cam timing. The car was imported from Germany to the U.S. in 1980 and spent most of its life in New Hampshire. It was reportedly kept in dry storage from 2000 until 2023 when it was recommissioned with a complete engine rebuild, upgraded Carrera chain tensioners, a Dansk stainless-steel muffler, a new clutch, and rebuilt brakes and suspension. Benefitting from $40k is recent refurbishment, this RoW 911SC Coupe is now being offered for auction out of New York with approximately 77k miles showing on the odometer.

This non-sunroof coupe is said to wear its original Silver Metallic (936) paint. Equipment includes chrome headlamp rings, yellow-tinted headlight lenses, a fender-mounted antenna, factory optional tinted glass, a polished exhaust tip, slim European market bumperettes, and 16” Fuchs wheels measuring 7” wide in front and 8” wide at the rear. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features black leather seats with a matching dashboard, door panels, carpets, and headliner. Accessories include a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, folding rear seatbacks, power windows, a heater, a fan, analog VDO gauges, a quartz clock, a center console cassette holder, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo. The seller notes the floor mats have been replaced, and the lower driver’s seat cushion has a torn seam.

This 911SC is equipped with an air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine featuring Euro-spec cam timing and 9:1 compression pistons. A complete engine rebuild was performed by Potzinger Rewerks in 2023, including new pistons, rings, head studs, Carrera chain tensioners, a polished engine case, and a new Dansk stainless-steel muffler. A dyno-tested output of 225 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. Other work performed in 2023 included the installation of a new clutch and pressure plate and rebuilding the brakes and suspension. Images of the mechanical overhaul are provided in the gallery.

This sale will include the original German owner’s manual, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This car is a true survivor, having retained its original paint and interior. It’s actually a very early and desirable 911 SC with higher compression pistons and European cam timing. The most desirable 911 SCs are the 1978 and 1979 models, which produced more HP. It received a complete mechanical rebuild that cost $40K by a Porsche restorer who specializes in 911s and needs nothing. It runs and drives like a dream. A true ‘Drivable Dream’”

The car handles great as is. I do not have the front and rear sway bars but I do know if a set and can get them installed all in for $500 installed. The guy who rebuilt the engine has a set reserved for me.

  • Ranger3 (registered bidder) 2 days, 17 hoursago

Where are the sway bars and front skid plate? Do you have them? Thanks.

  • Two_tone_Tommy (registered bidder) 2 days, 17 hoursago

Do you have the front and rear sway bars? The car must handle quite oddly with them removed.

Hi there, Yes the fuel pump is new and whatever needed replacement was replaced. It needs nothing. Everything that was needed was replaced so it can be a daily driver. It was owned by the mechanic who worked on this car so he took care of everything and spent over $40K recommissioning the car. I literally drive it several times a week since I am currently out of work and have driven it several hours at a time and hundreds of miles and it is a comfortable and fun car to drive. Instantly puts a smile on my face. Thanks for your interest.

@OldSchool The extent of any repair is minor. There is a spot near the gas cap cover then in other isolated spots as mentioned but all very small and minor to repair, just a light sand and paint touch up. The estimate I received for all was $500 from a local body shop to take care of. Contact me directly and we can discuss over a call. Im available anytime. If you hit contact seller I should get an email and we can exchange phone numbers. Thanks.

  • OldSchool (registered bidder) 3 days, 23 hoursago

tried to reach you direct on question extent of repair needed to address rust, like drivers side door lower left (other body work items, like bumpers and hood, clear from the photos) can you check your messesages to seller and get back? Please and thanks

Yes, The quote I received from a local automotive upholsterer was $150 and he found the original-type high grain leatherette. BTW the drivers side seat is very comfortable as is and doesn't need a foam bottom cushion, just the seam re-sewed and the small rip replaced with the original -type leatherette. It never really bothered me so I never replaced it. I really wanted to keep everything as original as possible. Best of luck with the auction and let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.

  • palien (registered bidder) 4 days, 20 hoursago

In pics 98 & 99 there is also a rip/gouge out of the driver's LHS bolster. Does your quote for repair include that?

David, is this your car or are you selling it for somebody?

  • DLentinello (seller) 6 days, 18 hoursago

The beauty about this car is that its original, honest, unrestored and the best part.... mechanically was rebuilt and needs nothing.. Its a get in and go very attractive driver that can be shown and admired not meant to be a garage queen. Performance and drive quality is second to none by far the quickest SC I have ever driven. "Potzinger ReWerks" in Huntington did the work in 2023 and yes, has documentation and photos of everything. Peter Potzinger did all the work himself and is by far the most talented Porsche mechanic out there. Look him up.. His work is of the highest quality attainable with meticulous detail.

  • Lev16gt (registered bidder) 6 days, 18 hoursago

Any paperwork for the work done in 2023? What all was replaced in the suspension?

  • Lev16gt (registered bidder) 6 days, 18 hoursago

Thanks for your response. And while I get your point, my ‘84 with twice as many miles and countless friends’ g-body cars are not like that. But as they say, your miles may vary.

  • DLentinello (seller) 6 days, 19 hoursago

Thats typical for a Porsche 911 of this vintage since the door was opened and closed a million times over the course of its life. The stricter plate has worn a bit and needs a minor adjustment. This will be attended too and its an easy fix. This door was never pryed open and closes tight and locks fine so no issues here. Its an attestant to its originally, honesty and structural integrity. Thanks for your interest.

  • Lev16gt (registered bidder) 6 days, 21 hoursago

What’s going on with the drivers door gaps? It looks like the door is too far forward and/or there was an attempt to pry the door open at some point. Is the edge of the body panel also pushed in where the rear of the drivers door meets it? The passenger door looks a little off in some photos as well, but not as bad. Thanks.

BTW I would like to add that I have the original steering wheel (called a "Safety Wheel") and original chrome sugar scoop headlight rims and also a pair of Marcal euro headlights. I have the original jack and tool roll which is nearly 100% complete. Also, I was quoted $150 for the minor rip in the drivers seat from a local automotive upholsterer if anyone is concerned with that.

  • DLentinello (seller) 1 week, 1 dayago

Thats funny ... sounds like the camera man burped... I know the car very well, I drive it nearly everyday and know every sound so now worries there. Thats true about value to some extent. The tiny rust spots near the gas filler cap and one on the lower fender are minor in my opinion and a testament to its originality and honesty. I was quoted $500 from a reputable body shop to repair. Thanks for your interest.

  • OldSchool (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

Nice car at the right price. Rust might offset the ROW bump. What are we hearing 30 seconds into the second video? Please and thankyou.

  • DLentinello (seller) 1 week, 1 dayago

Thank You! its a great original car and is actually quite rare in thats its a ROW car without a sunroof which I understand is very sort after and desirable non-option today. I like it because I dont have to worry about leaks with a sunroof or Targa top and it gives me an added 3 inches of headroom and is quiet on the highway doing 80 MPH.. I can drive this car all day long and not get tired. Regarding the HP, stock NON US ROW cars is 205 for the early cars but I was told from the engine rebuilder that this car with its higher compression pistons of 9.8:1 and Euro cam timing is pushing 215-225. You can tell immediately when you drive it that its not your base 911SC, its something a bit special. Acceleration is exhilarating to say the least!!! It's a blast to drive! Best of all all, you can find cosmetic restorations with new paint and interior for $80K+, but that car will still eventually need an engine rebuild sometime in its future. With this car , the engine and clutch were properly rebuilt and that will not be an issue and best of all is incorporated in the value of the car. Thanks for your interest.

  • 550bryan (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

Beautiful SC, will undoubtedly carry a premium given it lack of sunroof and ROW spec. I know 78/79 US spec SC's were rated at 180 hp, so what is the hp rating of this non US model?

  • DLentinello (seller) 1 week, 1 dayago

Please let me know if anyone has any questions or needs additional photos. I'd be happy to answer any and all your questions and welcome you visit to inspect and drive my 911 SC. Its such an honest car and truly a "Driverable Dream Survivor"! Thank you for your interest.
