Up for auction is this 1979 RoW Porsche 911SC finished in Cashmere Beige over a Chocolate Brown interior. This example is said to have spent its life in Puerto Rico before being imported to Florida in 2015 and eventually being purchased by the current owner in 2018 after a thorough inspection by Troysports in Orlando. With a comprehensive list of upgrades and maintenance items addressed under the current ownership to bring the car up to excellent running order, this nicely sorted driver-grade 911SC is now being offered by its seller Vermont accompanied by service records, books, tools, and its original 5-speed manual gearbox.
Reported to have only been offered from the factory between the years of 1978-1980, the highly uncommon Cashmere Beige (502) finish on this SC is said to remain in good condition with some cosmetic imperfections and a crack indicated on the front valence. New door and window seals have also been recently installed (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). An aftermarket decklid grille has been equipped and the rocker panels have been removed, although they will also be included in the sale. Features include chrome window moldings, European bumperettes, and genuine Fuchs wheels dressed in new Toyo Proxes tires.
The Chocolate Brown interior said to remain in fair condition with some patina and minor imperfections including cracks on the dashboard and a tear on the driver's seat cushion. Some rust is depicted on one of the B-pillars and the sunroof panel is missing its headliner. Modifications include new brown leather Recaro seats, a roll cage, a JWest RennShift kit with 2” extended shifter, a billiard ball shift knob, a Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel, an aftermarket Kenwood stereo, and Coco floor mats. All gauges and accessories are reported to be fully functional except for the intermittent windshield wiper control. The odometer drive gear was replaced under the current ownership and the total mileage on the chassis remains unknown, altohugh the seller reports it to be accurate to within 2k miles of the current reading.
Power comes from an RoW-spec air-cooled 3.0 L flat-six engine rated at 180 HP stock. The original gearbox was removed for refurbishment and a replacement 915 5-speed manual has been installed which was sourced from a 1983 example. The original gearbox is included, a major engine-out service and reseal was recently performed, and the following items were carried out within the last 3 years to bring the car up to its current standards:
This sale will include a set of 2 ignition keys, 3 door lock keys, 1 key blank, owner’s manuals, the original tools, and spare tire, service records, assorted spare parts, correspondence from an early owner, the original 5-speed gearbox, and a clean title.

@colehanson4 thanks
Here’s to hoping the reserve is within my reach ?
So what’s the word on this everybody’s been very quiet lately.
love the color
@Cad.Guy It didn't have any of the AC components when I purchased it, however, I haven't checked with Porsche to see if it came from the factory with this option
Did this car have AC ?
@utopify - Oh no. Not planning on restoring anything just that it needs an interior cleanup
Learn how to recover the dash.
Maybe learn how to do seat covers.
Do a bit of paint touch up.
But not a restore
It’s a definite driver and tinker cat for sure.
Exactly what I am looking for.
Plus the color is growing on me. Kinda looks like butterscotch.
@Cad.Guy I respectfully disagree....this isn't a project car, this is a get in, enjoy it as is, and don't worry about inclement weather car. If you want a project/restoration this is likely not the car for you. I am not even affiliated with the seller, but there is a LOT to love about this SC. If you want a restoration, this doesn't financially make sense and I doubt this will suit you. Make your personal tweaks...set it up how you want and enjoy the #$%@ out of it on the way to the supermarket early in the morning or meeting friends for coffee. Ugh...now I want to bid on it.
This may make a nice project car.
It does need a fair bit of work, but if you have the skills it may work out.
Very cool car. While the red paint around the hood badge/areas is interesting (unlikely a primer, with primer under the red), seemingly some donor panels at some point, if that is what you are focused on here, you are focusing on the wrong things. This is a car to be enjoyed without worry. Too few of these are available these days because we see a rusty tool set and shrill in disbelief. I love this car, and sometimes you need those old blue jeans that are comfortable and broken in to get the best out of the day. GOOD LUCK seller, this is worth a buyers time and consideration. Cool color, flog-worthy, excellent stewardship. High-five. Seriously tho, rescue those tools!
@Cad.Guy You very well could be correct, I won't pretend to be an expert on Porsche factory primers and painting techniques. When I bought the car, that wasn't really important to me. It's not a trailer queen, it doesn't sit in a garage for 95% of the year and it won't win best in show at your local car meet. It's a driver's car and has been maintained, upgraded and enjoyed as I feel a 911 should be; being put through the paces out on the open road with an uncontrollable ear to ear grin.
Bid in the amount of $20,000
@colehanson4 Not so sure about that.
Some of the spots look pretty rough
@Cad.Guy I was told by the PO to his knowledge it still wore the original paint, I assumed this was just the primer underneath showing through.
@colehanson4 Can you speak to the color change I ask about ?
It looks to have been painted some shade of red below the areas that are flaking off.
@BoxsterGT The door tag reads 502-9-1 for Cashmere Beige. Personal info can't be distributed in the comment section so I can't see if you included that in your original comment.
@Cad.Guy Yes there were some pinholes at the bottom of the quarter window/door interface. When the door and window gaskets were replaced, the rust was knocked back, treated with an inhibitor and coated with POR-15 and sealed to prevent any water from the rear wheels penetrating again. These two small spots were the only signs of rust I was able to find. I don't think I can upload additional pics here but am happy to share them via other media or they can be viewed on the PP ad
What is the color code on the Door tag?
Would like to see this in person. I am in NH.
Can you email me?
@colehanson4 There were more pictures showing rust like spots on the B pillars
It looks like it has been repainted over some shade of red.
@Cad.Guy It was on Pelican, is there anything in particular you have a question about?
@Macfly Yes, I purchased the car in FL, it has Texas plates and is located in VT. The old seats were torn and tatty so I purchased replacements. Correct, they aren't off the shelf new but I was told they had been refurbished.
I stumbled across this one also listed on pelican forums and included some pictures and comments that don’t seem to be included here.
Pretty impressive removing that engine in the street!!
Car is in Vermont? With a Texas plate, but from Florida?
Ad says new Recaro seats, but that driver seat looks original. I'm new here.. can you sort that out for me?
Bid in the amount of $15,000
Hi CTLLC, me too! It's an absolutely fantastic and unique combo IMO. I'm pleased to offer up my wonderful 911 so somebody else can have as many fun adventures and experiences I have over the last 2 years. I'm more than happy to answer any questions, field phone calls etc This car has great bones and will go anywhere, anytime, without hesitation(albeit very quickly I might add:)). Happy bidding!
Love that color.
