Now available for auction is this 1979 Porsche 911SC Coupe finished in Viper Green Diamond Metallic over a black interior. Originally sold from Gateway Porsche/Audi of Portland, Oregon, this 911SC was eventually purchased by the previous owner in 2009 who had carried out extensive refurbishments and customizations including a full glass-out respray, the addition of a Ducktail rear spoiler, an upgraded suspension, 17” Fuchs-style wheels, and leather-trimmed GTS Classics seats with Houndstooth upholstered inserts. Most notably, the flat-six engine was rebuilt to a 3.2L displacement and fitted with upgraded pistons, cylinders, camshafts, dual PMO carburetors, and a twin-plug MSD ignition system. Offering a substantial increase in performance and an eye-catching appearance, this 3.2L 911SC is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Alabama accompanied by an extensive collection of records.
This SC had previously been treated to a full glass-out respray in Viper Green Diamond Metallic. During this time the sunroof was deleted, and a small area of corrosion was removed from the battery tray and replaced with new steel sheet metal. A fiberglass-over-metal Stratton Motorsports Ducktail rear spoiler was also added along with European-spec H4 headlights. Detailed images are provided in the gallery. This 911SC rides on a set of Fuchs-style 17” Fikse wheels which are currently dressed in Bridgestone RE-11 tires. An additional set of 16" Fuchs wheels will also accompany the sale.
Inside, the black interior has been customized with leather GTS Classics PanAm sport seats featuring Houndstooth upholstered inserts. Other custom details include a leather-wrapped three-spoke MOMO steering wheel, black Silverknit carpeting, Coco floor mats, aluminum pedals, and a short-throw shifter with a Seine gate shift kit. For the purpose of weight savings, the A/C and radio were deleted during the build. A 180-MPH speedometer has been fitted in place of the original. The true mileage of the pre-build donor car is unknown, and approximately 7k miles are said to have been driven since the completion of the build.
The air-cooled flat-six engine in this 911SC is said to have been previously rebuilt to a 3.2L displacement and upgraded with 9.8:1 JE pistons, LN Engineering 98mm Nickies cylinders, Elgin camshafts, dual 46mm PMO carburetors, and a twin-plug MSD ignition system with a JB Racing distributor. A rebuilt oil pump was also installed along with a brass oil cooler and Elephant Racing finned oil lines. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed manual gearbox which was rebuilt in 2010 by John Walker’s Workshop of Seattle, WA. The suspension was upgraded with custom-valved Bilstein HD shocks, Tarrett RSR through-body sway bars, Turbo tie rods, Rebel Racing RSR front bushings, a Rennline front strut tower brace, and Rennline monoball bushings. A vast collection of invoices is provided for reference in the photo gallery.
This sale will include a set of two keys and two new key blanks, extensive service and build records, owner's manuals, a toolkit, spare tire, fire extinguisher, an extra set of 16" Fuchs wheels, and a clear Washington title. This twin-plug 3.2L 911SC is just waiting for its next owner to get behind the wheel, don't miss out.

@PORSCHE1 @jd-gt350 Yes; everything shown in the listing is included.
Will you include in the sale the EURO front plate and frame
@PORSCHE1 @jd-gt350 While we are not an experts on CA emissions, many Outlaw & HotRod class 911's exist in CA and we have sold several to clients in CA as well. Some buyers have a plan in this regard and some seek-out CA shops that understand the process.
Will it pass California smog/license check?
Has a long way to make it to reserve if I had to guess.
Bid in the amount of $50,000
@PORSCHE1 @jd-gt350 The WA title is clean; no brands.
@Johnbugg Thanks; sorry for the delay, just saw your question. Unlike most re-powered 911 HR builds, the engine is original to the 1979 911SC donor; the transmission was sourced from a 1983 911SC and rebuilt by John Walker's Workshop in Seattle.
Is the title clean no brands?
Hi nice car ! Do you have a COA is the engine and trans original to car ?
Bid in the amount of $40,500
@phowley Yes.
@ehd911 Ok so they are 8 & 10" wide correct?
the tire sizes I did see in the pix.
@phowley 225mm front (225/45R17), 255mm rear (255/40R17)
It says that the wheels are 17" Fikse but what are the width on the front and rear.
7 and 9 ?
Thanks.
Bid in the amount of $40,250
@JBoxerGT2 I don’t understand your comment. Car was in BaT Sept 2020. Really.
Tthom85
Really? 19 months later SC's are on fire on BAT, getting $50, $60k and $90k
Thanks for addressing that for me. I looked thru all the invoices and failed to take note of the photos.
Jim
@PORSCHE1 @jd-gt350 Thank you; however please note that the cross-drilled brakes were professionally rebuilt during the build and are excellent on this lightweight 3.2L/HR Coupe.
Looks like most areas have been address except the OEM brakes system. Lots of go, not much to slow.
A registered bidder asked via a direct message, "...Nice car. I noticed a high pitch whine, almost like a small vacuum cleaner noise at 0:22-0:30 in your second video (interior), and at 0:34-0:55 of the engine video etc. can you identify the source?...". Others here may have the same question. Note that this is the "opened door warning buzzer" -- once you shut the door, the warning ceases (see video demonstrating the operation - https://www.dropbox.com/s/rbwx59j2znp3unb/2021-06-04%2015.33.25.mov?dl=0 ).

@Farmhouse27 Thank you; much appreciated. Regarding the pavement bump: Yes, there is a sharp bump on this road near our facility that I hit at 90mph on the inbound video that will jolt any car and the camera during a driving video (especially when videoing with one hand, while driving & shifting). I generally try to steer around the bump in the opposing lane, yet it's over a rise and I was focus on driving, speed and the video, thus I apologize (such was not noticeable on the outbound video, as its not as sharp in that direction and the speed was lower) -- the associated noise was my other cell phone, garage & gate clickers and my Valentine RD rattling together in the seat near me, the 3.2L/HR is solid. Regarding the engine deck lid: We have had several builds with similar ducktails and it's fitted as well as any I've seen. I hope this helps.
Really nice car . Did I hear some sort of rattle when the car went over some ruff pavement .
Is the glass deck lid fitted properly.
@ehd911 I see. I think I was confused about what work was done by the previous owner. Thanks for clearing it up, and GLWTA!
@TThom85 Thank you; I agree.
@mattdpa True, yet the 3.2L/HR is a fresh, complete build; refurbished from the ground-up, unlike many HR builds -- it's donor mileage is TMU and irrelevant given the extent of the build, refurbishment and over the top attention to detail, with only 7k miles down since the build.
@mattdpa Wasn’t that on an 85mph speedo? What was the stock speedo on a 79 anyway?
@mattdpa good catch. I didn’t notice that.
@TThom85 - yes, didn't it have 199,000 miles on it then?
Bid in the amount of $25,000
Wow. It’s perfect.
I remember seeing this one on BaT in September.
